NOVEMBER TRIP REPORT - DAY 3 SATURDAY We were up at 6:30, and got ready for the day. Off to the breakfast buffet, where we were greeted and seated. I asked the waiter for a mimosa, and he said he didn't think they had champagne there. What?!?!?! :shock: What the heck did I drink yesterday??? :shock: Walked over to the omelette station, next to the big bowl of congealed fried eggs was a bowl of cut up hot dogs swimming in a red greasy sauce, and next to that was a pan of French Fries! :shock: Just what I want to eat at 7 a.m., leftover cut up hot dogs and old French Fries. :chuck: I asked the "cook", and I use that term very loosely, for scrambled eggs. He proceeds to break two eggs in a bowl and toss them on the grill without mixing them. I pantomimed how to scramble the eggs, then I had to tell him when to turn them over. He was definitely clueless! We got some sliced fruit and coffee, and then headed outside ... It was already sunny and hot, and since it was so early we were able to snag chairs. Mike and Sheila arrived, and later we all went to the swim up bar for Coco Loco's and Blue Hawaiians ... We hung out at the swim up bar for quite a while ... :wow: Look, my drink matched the pool water ... Later we walked on the beach ... To the south where the hotel next door was closed ... In the afternoon Mike took a scuba lesson in the pool ... We decided to get out of the sun for a while, it was really hot today. :sunny: But first, I borrowed Norb's watch for a photo op for mi amigo, Chuck ... Then we took a walk to the Playacar Plaza up the road for a little shopping. Here's Mike and Norb, trying on hats ... Look how happy they are! Walked back to the hotel to get showers and dress for dinner. We met Sheila and Mike in the Lobby Bar for a drink, then we walked over to the Mexican restaurant on the Tucan side. Our waiter, Luis, was very attentive and friendly. Mike told him I wanted to stay in Mexico, and Luis offered to marry me! :lotsoflove: There was a salad bar with appetizers and desserts, but the waiter brought your entrees and drinks to the table. Norb and I both ordered tortilla soup, and shrimp. We thought the food was very good here. Sheila and Mike both ordered a steak dish ... Mike ate his, but Sheila didn't like hers at all. Luis made Spanish coffee, but it was lacking a few ingredients that we've had other places .. like the kahlua and the ice cream! :cry: Oh well, there's always the desserts ... Tonight in the theater was the show, The Perfect Match. Earlier in the day one of the Star Friends from the entertainment team had asked Norb and I if we would be in the show. I said no, but our friends will do it. :wink: So later I had to break the news to Mike and Sheila that they were going to be part of the entertainment for the evening ... yes, they wanted to kill me! :lol: We went to the theater at 9 p.m., and headed to the bar in the back of the room. Mike had 3 shots of tequila, Sheila had 2 shots of tequila and she washed them down with sangria, Norb and I both had 3 mojitos. Then the 4 of us polished off a bottle of champagne. artytime: Now, if there had actually been ANY alcohol in those drinks I would have been on the floor, but none of us even had a buzz. Were the drinks watered down? You be the judge! Sheila and Mike were on the stage with three other married couples, and they had to perform silly things like popping the balloon in different positions, dirty dancing, romantic kissing, etc. The show was funny (unless you were the one on stage) But, Sheila and Mike are a lot of fun, and they were really good sports about it. Later Mike told me when he heard the MC say the words "dirty dancing", he thought his brain would explode! We thought the game was more like the newlywed game where you would just answer questions, we had no idea it would be so physical! Anyway, a couple from the Ukraine won. I think because the man started stripping while dancing. After the show there was dancing with the band, and all in all, it was a fun evening. TOMORROW ... BACK TO PLAYA!!!
Janie I am still laughing at your vivid description of breakfast!!! That was so funny. Cut up hot dogs and fries!!! :lol: Did you drink all their champagne the day before?!?!? :lol: :lol: You take such great pictures!!! ...oh btw nice wedding ring. :wink: Looking forward to day four.
GRACIAS, DAHLING! If you ever stay at an all-inclusive you'll see they recycle the food ... if they serve pork for dinner you'll find pork SOMEWHERE on the breakfast buffet. I must have drank ALL of their champagne!! :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:
We did an all inclusive plan on our honeymoon to Jamaica...I didn't notice the recycled food... I was possibly preoccupied. I guess you can't blame them for not wanting to waste food. :lol: :lol:
