I think I'm going to use phone cards to call home as cell phone prices are astronomical! Can anyone reccommend a good brand to buy for calling to Canada? I'm planning on making two short calls twice a day. Also can you tell me where to buy them?

    Thanks! :)

We always get ours at the convenience store next to the resort and use the payphone there too. We try to get the Telmex ones as they seemed the easiest to use.

We had QUITE the experience with phone cards last time...lol! The one G bought from the store next to the resort could only be used at certain pay phones and for sure NOT at the phone in the room. The problem with that is the person whole sold it to him didnt tell him that. We had to find a phone it worked at AFTER asking the manager of the resort why it wouldnt work. Of course the phones it worked at were directly on the busy street and you could barely hear the call.

Moral of the story: find out if the card you are buying will be of use to you before purchasing it.

We used the phone cards & the phones next to the street for a few years but really struggled with them. Now we have international calling for a minimal charge & use our cell phones. Texting is another option that didn't cost anything extra because it is in our Verizon plan. Don't forget your charger though like I did :(
