Just looked at the exchange rate, almost 15 pesos per dollar. Never exchanged money before, always been worth almost a even trade, So any body know if wiser to exchange money at some point? Would always tip in dollars. And how about all thoses fees and trips should not they be cheaper if the Pesos has fallen? Terry
Can't say for all things but the trips leaving the resort for the bars were getting more expensive in pesos when I was last there in November and not really changing too much in terms of the dollar. Hopefully they haven't gone too over the top. Us poor Canadians are going to start to feel the pinch soon. Go figure America's economy is in much worse shape than ours right now and OUR dollar is taking a hit!
If thats true about increasing the pesos for trips, then they are just riping us off. If I figured it right, we should get this stuff at a 1/4 cheaper. They most likely think we are to dumb to check the rates. The US eco is in the dumps, flights are very cheap, which tells you something, they might not be hurting now, but watchout in a few months, always went in April and never seen so few post about people going. We have cut or trips down from 2 to 3 to one a year. Terry
PESCO"S WHENSHOPPING IT IS MOST OF THE TIME TO DOLLARS FOR A BETTER DEALS,THEY STILL WANT THE AMERICIAN DOLLARS. ALSO WHEN TIPPING USE 2 DOLLAR BILLS THEY ARE GOOD LUCK PIECES TO THEM
PEso I would bet that its like any tourist area, the prices will fluctuate with the economy, So I would imagine that even though the rate has changed in our favor, the price down there will fluctuate up to match the change for the most part, Tourism is probably treated like any other business, especially in Cancun. I could be wrong though.
It's like any other business, the product is sold at the maximum price the market will support. That's why a club open bar deal is still $40 whether the exchange rate is 10:1 or 15:1. People will pay it and not feel any difference, the club owners aren't going to turn that down. Perhaps if people stopped using USD in Cancun and relied more on pesos the effect of currency fluctuations would more than likely show through a lot more than they do.
From what we could figure if you can use pesos then you should! we were told to give the bus driver $1 per person to take the bus into town, but after a few times we figured it was only 6.5 pesos each so we were getting hosed. Shops try to cut into you as well when taking USD and giving pesos in change. We finally got it figured out in time for us to leave,,,, lol but we will know for next time.
Sounds like changing to Pesos is the best way to go, so where is the best place to exchange them, my bank, the airport here or there or when we get to the resort? Terry
