    Hello people...

    I'm making my way from London to Temptations for the 1st time.... booked in for 15th-22nd Jan.

    Was curious as to which currency to exchange...Peso.a or dollars...?

    Please for those that have been before or have any sort of knowledge on currency to exchange, let us know... Most grateful.

    Thanks and hope to see you soon! 9 days to go!

    Both work well here. However I would pick the one you have a better exchange rate to.

    If all things are equal for you in terms of how much you pay to convert, I would suggest getting pesos for tipping.

    The staff will end up converting american money so if it makes no difference for you, you can save them the exchange cost.

    For example. We are coming from canada. Most of the tipping is for drinks so that's what I base my decision on. Grabbing a drink I would typically give a $1 each time.

    $1usd = $1.30 canadian
    20pesos = $1.37 canadian

    I had a quick glance and I think this is what it looks like for you.

    1usd = 0.76 pound sterling
    20peso = 0.81 pound sterling

    So, for that extra 7cents I can provide the bartender a 20peso bill that they dont have to exchange and it's really no big difference for me.

    A 20peso bill is 20pesos for them while a $1 american bill directly exchanges to just over 18pesos minus whatever they are charged to exchange.

    Plus, that 20peso bill is waterproof so it's easier to separate in my pocket after being in the pool and dries off quicker for the bartender.

    I dont know how it is in London, but for us here the banks/exchange places will always have us funds in hand but we typically need to give a weeks notice to get pesos. Especially with the amount of 20peso bills we ask for.

    I would agree with Brent and Kells post. My opinion is pesos are better too. At some point that American dollar needs to be exchanged and a loss to the original recipient will be incurred. They can’t pay Mexican rent/mortgage/utilities in dollars.

    I would think ordering through your local bank would be the best rate, and safest bet

    Withdrawing pesos directly from an ATM is generally the best rate. Exchanging cash in person is usually cheaper at banks and exchange places outside of tourist areas (i.e. not airport)

    Search for International Currency Exchange.
    You order currency online by picking the outlet closest to you and how much currency you want. They'll then generally have what you need in a day or two.
    Thinking about it, how easy to get a larger bill changed into 20pesos bills at the resort?
