I've very tentatively raised this as an issue from time to time, when it comes to the subject of permanent residency, because it's nothing people like to consider, but taking permanent residency puts the person in the position of no longer being able to deny they are a resident for income tax purposes; and, because, for many, the path to permanent residency involved proving assets and income streams with hard documentation, and sworn to as true in the application, taxation raises its ugly head as a possibility, at some point. For now I don't think there is information sharing of any meaningful kind taking place between agencies- the INM and the SAT- but that could change in the future.
