So, what color are you choosing for your 2013 pre-trip mani/pedi? Do you always go with the same color or do you choose a trendy color? Or do you do a classic french nail?

Do you get nail tips? If so, do you do acrylic, diamond or gel? How about a fun tip, like sparkly or black?

Spa day for me on Saturday in preparation for our trip. I plan to do diamond nails but unsure of the tip. Also, unsure of toe nail color.

I have gone with a nice glitter pink fad in gel for my fingers. I haven't decided on the toes but I'm thinkin I might try match.

I find that a frosted color wears a LOT better at TTR, as you lose your nail polish pretty quickly when you are in the pool all day, or playing beach volleyball. Chipped or dull frosted polish looks a lot better than bright non-frosted colours, and frosted colours don't show patch jobs as much.

I'm guessing that gel or acrylic nails don't have these same problems, though I have been afraid to try them because of the horror stories I've heard about them ruining your nails.

I bring some travel nail polish remover pads in foil envelopes and do a quick re-manicure halfway through the trip. I also slap another coat of topcoat on every couple of days. If you travel with nail polish, make sure you tighten the lid really well before packing.

My current favourite color for beach holidays is a frosted (not glitter) gold by Nicole by OPI called "the next CEO". It's subtle, and actually kind of changes color to blend with either gold or silver accessories, and it looks great with a tan. You can see it in my avatar photo. I always get compliments on it at the resort, though it's not a color I would wear in Vancouver. I don't wear frosted polish at home at all...I just wear a neutral sheer beige on my fingers at home.

My technician always comments on how healthy my nails are when I go or a fill. I believe that a proper diet along with the proper vitamins, your nails/hair can be healthy no matter what you do to them :)

Usually white tips gel nails but maybe colored tips this time around. Love black tips. Orange for cancuncare maybe, or this nice teal green I say last time.

I did black tips last year that had a silvery streaks through them. They were fun. I have had silver glitter tips for New Years and just removed them in preparation for my upcoming manicure. Thinking of gold after seeing Karens. That would go with anything and look nice with a tan.

I may just do a French pedi. My new suits are red, orange, white, gold, turquoise and black.

Gels are a nightmare when you use Mozzie spray with DEET in it, turns them all sticky, end up with fluffy bits stuck to them!
Sticking to normal French for hands, probably CCC orange for toes.
