for those of us that live here in Fairfield County, CT just north of NYC... Paul Newman and David Letterman have become part of the fabric of our community, as have many others you might consider 'famous and unapproachable'. Most of us that have lived here for a while have stories of running into these folks at the grocery store or seeing them jogging or mowing their lawns... Paul Newman's wife, Joanne Woodward, runs the theater in Wesport where they have lived for years. I live about 10 minutes from their farm in the next town. In a time where most of the celebs you hear about are getting arrested, can't act, sing, or do anything particularly well except smile, make sex videos and forget to wear underwear... the ones I've been fortunate enough to meet and grow up near are just as well-known for their charity and sense of community. Sure, Martha Stewart lived here and tortured us for years, but the Paul Newmans and Rodney Dangerfields made up for her and then some.
