Just needed to rant, almost didn't get my passport in time. In fact, I still don't have it in my hands, but it SHOULD be here tomorrow. I know I waited very last minute, but our trip wasn't booked much time in advance, and making it to the post office was very hard due to my work schedule. We leave 4th of July, and when I was 2 1/2 weeks out from my travel date, I was finally able to make it to the P.O. to apply for one. Turns out even expedited, it still takes 2-3 weeks to get it. They told me not to risk it and to drive to the nearest passport agency (Houston, which is 6 hours round trip for me) so I can get it the same day. So last Friday was the first opportunity because of work that I was able to make an appointment time and get out there...and they told me when I got there that only people who make an appointment before noon can get their passport the same day! I was never told this and couldn't find it on their website, and I had a 2:30 PM appt. I was basically told that I had to drive all the way back to pick it up on Monday, which I couldn't take off since I'm already taking off for our week at TTR! I pleaded and begged for them to overnight it, in which he said that they don't normally do since it's a Friday and I was the last appt. He talked to his supervisor and came back after what seemed like a million years, and said he would personally overnight it to me Monday (yesterday) and would make himself a memo to remind himself. A MEMO. That was so nerve racking to just have to trust him that he would remember after coming back from the weekend! Anyways, he said it would be here today. IT DID NOT COME. So I called the passport support line, and they told me it wasn't "ready" to send yet, that it definitely wouldn't be here today, but to try calling back in a few hours to see if it got mailed out later today. I did, and just found out it was mailed after minutes of me hanging up with them last...and that it should be here tomorrow. Got the tracking number. I think I can breathe now. Ahhhh. Never wait till last minute people, lesson learned!
With this to get you wound up, just imagine how goods its going to feel as you walk through the door at TTR. Have a great time!
So true, thank you! Going to leave it all behind the second we arrive at the resort. Hoping it's going to be everything I'm wanting it to be, we're first timers.
Put your passport in a safe place while at the resort!!! Yeah your bananas good thing you got it though. Last fall when we were contemplating the possibility of going on vacation I made my husband go get his passport just in case...
just went with my son this morning to get his new passport since he was 14 when he got his first one and it expired..not chancing any hiccups for our Halloween trip so had to get er done early..also for the first time ever the DMV/Passport place was a ghosttown today so breezed threw in 10 minutes flat
I had the same issue. I just got my passport monday and i leave next week. They sent it to the wrong zip code so after calling them and finally they gave me a tracking number i found out it was returned the the office in NH. I had to fill out a ds-86 form for non reciept and finally they overnighted me another one. I know how you feel and hopefully you will get it by today. I wish you all the luck buddy.
