I'm going to TTR oct28-nov2, my passport expires the 14th of nov. I have a UK passport and am flying in from the US, does anyone know if your passport has to be valid for at least 6 months from your travel date to get into mexico? Ive been looking around and getting mixed answers and cant get ahold of anyone at the Mexican embassy.

You should message Steve. He probably knows the UK and Mexican passport info.

Last time I went to Cancun, I had 8 days left on my passport. I had no issues.

You are correct that the rule is your passport has to be valid for 6 months from your date of entry.

This is because the maximum amount of time you can stay as a tourist is 6 months and therefore they need you to have a valid passport to fly back, if you were to stay the maximum permissible length..

I have no idea how strictly this is enforced, they may not even notice. But there is a risk you may be denied entry, or denied to fly out.

You are probably too late to get a new passport as they recently changed the system where you now have to get them from the UK rather than from your local British Embassy, and they suggest to allow 6 weeks.

However, you'll likely qualify for a 12 month extension which is probably quicker to process since you can get this from within the US and I expect they dont have too many requests.

With your current passport expiring on the 14th of Nov and having travel dates of oct28-nov2, it is highly likely that whichever airline you are using will just outright refuse to board you at your departure city on Oct 28th.

No airline wants to take a chance and be responsible for having to fly you back to your departure city at no cost to the airline if there is a good chance that Mexican Immigration will reject you on Oct 28th.

Good luck. I'd hate to see anyone miss out on TTR because of something like that. I hope you can get your extension.
