Looking for a little advice/help.... I'm new to the Paleo lifestyle (I have been Paleo for about 6 months). I am still figuring out how to eat out and have really only been out locally. I found the gluten-free link and that is a start but just wondering if/how accommodating they might be. We will be going March 2014 so I'll have about a year under my belt by then, just hoping someone has already gone and has some advice. Thanks!

I've been following the Paleo lifestyle for 2 1/2 years. If you're concerned about eating at Temptations, there is no problem at all. I just follow the same rules/techniques as I do everywhere else. There is always plenty to eat and plenty that fall into the Paleo guidelines.

Depending upon which "version" of Paleolithic you've adopted you should be fine....foodwise..just stick to items that you can easily identify the ingredients. You are not going to be able to be 100%..but you can get pretty close. Alcohol and mixers will be an issue....at least for me. No AIWC..not to much of a hardship..it kind of makes me sick not drunk. Ive been Paleolithic for several months and I'm a chef so I know food and nutrition. Just be weary of hidden sugar...no one wants to get the carb flu on vacation. Good luck. Christy

I figured alcohol wise I would just stick to tequila or vodka, most likely with club soda. It is usually the grains ( gluten) and soy that get me. I've learned to be pretty good about finding where flour might be hidden. Soy is the one that gets me most often when eating out- it is hidden in so many prepared foods. Any advice on soy?

I found a gluten free thread and they had a link to a printable card that ( I think) basically says I have a gluten allergy. Please let the chef know and help with food choices.

Soy is sneaky. Try to eat things with little added fat..like a burger if it all ground beef and oil and balsamic vinegar for salads ( although I tend to only eat cooked items for food poison prevention or foods that I can peel like bananas). There are so many ways to get sick from the food and most of them are little things the average person wouldnt think of. Many condiments have soy or some sort of non paleolithic oil in it..use pico de Gallo or guacamole to favor. Non stick sprays for pans and that they use in other area of the kitchen always contain soy. Eat at natural as possible. If a sauce is thick..most likely it contains flour or cornstarch..neither are paleolithic. I'm pretty educated about it..I too will struggle with good choices while I'm there...but I plan on sticking as close as possible to plan. I have a lot of skimpy clothes to wear..eating bread or some other non paleolithic food will only bloat my stomach and add 5 pounds of water weight. No thank you..not worth it.

Also allowing your self cheat days IMO sends the message that its a diet and NOT a lifestyle change. For some, me included that is dangerous thinking. We are not dogs..don't reward yourself with food. Get a manicure or a massage instead. GOOD LUCK!

I will be sporting a pink cowboy hat at the pool all week and unlike my profile picture i'm a blonde. Come see me if you have any questions, i'm willing to help anyone regarding Paleo.

I don't really cheat at all ( dark chocolate is my cheat ). We will be there in march (19-24), any chance you'll be there at the same time? Thanks for all help, it gets easier all the time to identify safe food choices.
