Hi everyone! We fly out Wednesday morning for our first trip to Temptations, really looking forward to meeting lots of fun people! A couple of question for the regulars: 1. From this board we are planning on getting insulated mugs, several bikini (bottoms), looking for orange wristbands, and good waterproof suntan lotion. Anything other items any regulars would advise bringing? 2. Cancun Clubs: Some of the older posts recommend going out to some clubs with the entertainment staff as it is a really good way to meet people to party with for the rest of the trip. Is that still true or do most people stay on site to party in the evenings? We are only there for 4 nights, and were not planning on leaving the resort, but also don't want to miss any fun. 3. Tipping: More than happy to tip for service, do most folks tip a couple of dollars per drink/food order, or just give a larger initial tip to the server who will help you all day by the pool. Finally, MUSIC!: Any need to bring speakers/iPod, or is there plenty music everywhere? We would be happy to provide a solid mix of CP's 80s and alt. favorites along with Kick's Waylon Jennings/Fleetwood Mac/Johnny Cash mix. Thanks for any advice, can't wait to hopefully meet some (many?) of you there!
When we were there in January for 7 days we didn't leave the resort once. There is just so much to do that unless you are dying for the club scene I'm not sure you'll want to leave. Paty O's becomes somewhat of a club on many nights...especially when they have a DJ. We were up until 3am on 4 nights and 5am on another night. So there is no lack of partying going on at the resort. Also, if you meet anyone fun at the club you can't bring them back to the resort... only guests allowed unless they buy a day/night pass ($50-$100 each). Just our thoughts!
We have gone to Coco Bongos a few times but the last few trips we stayed at the resort. You will meet plenty of people to party with and if as a group you decide to go to a club by all means go. We are going also for only 4 nights and don't plan to leave unless we get enough people to get Steve to plan a Booze Cruise during our trip. As for music it might be a good idea for your room, otherwise channel 12 has a wide selection of music to listen to.
1. The resort gives out red towels for the sunbeds...maybe take a different colour one to spot your chair lol or a t-shirt to pull over the back of it. 2. Last May we didn't leave the resort once in the evenings (and we go for 14 nights) none of our group wanted to leave, loads stay at Paty O's the clubs are not pushed onto people as much as in previous years. You will have loads of fun at the resort. 3. We tend to give a big tip at the beginning then smaller tips but it's each to their own, it really doesn't matter, the staff are BRILLIANT and so helpful. They are happy whatever/whenever you tip. 4. Someone from our group always has speakers with them.... comes in handy for BEACH PARTIES whoo hoo. Have a fantastic time, you'll meet loads of people you will keep in touch with for years to come. Lynfa x
oh and as you are there for lingerie night on Thursday,make sure you BOTH take sexy underwear to wear. Men can't attend without proper underwear now, PJ bottoms are not allowed so we've heard. Lynfa x
our first trip we we went to some clubs and a couple of tours second trip just left to scuba dive this coming trip not going anywhere but the resort. we tip early to the bartenders and then every so often five or ten at the start then a couple of bucks here or there. don't forget the maids and other staff
If youre only going for 4 days I wouldnt leave the resort to go to clubs, just enjoy the resort. Please do tip the workers they make little to no money, we tip about 2 bucks a meal and more when we eat at the specialty restaurants. We give about 20 bucks or more a day to the bartenders, and 2 bucks a day to the maid, and tip others as needed
Totally agree!! Unless you want to party with 95% 18-22 yr old boys (which is what most of the clubs in Cancun are), I would stay at the hotel. The nightlife there is 2nd to none!! We have been to pretty much every club in Cancun and none of them are as fun as Paddy-O's in the evening! Tipping... Give what you feel comfortable with...
bring music as patios sometimes lacks entertainment and music,then you can go to the beach and make your own beach party.
