So I did my initial pack last night since the pile next to my bed of "stuff to wear/bring to Cancun" was getting out of control. Wow. I might need to pack another suitcase. It's $25 bucks each way for one bag. $35 for a 2nd each way. However one of my travelmates aren't checking a bag so maybe I'll have them claim my 2nd bag and their first. But still..... dude $100 bucks roundtrip just for luggage? You can rent a whole 2 bedroom house in Andalucia/Cancun for $250 a month! This sucks. Also... I can't find my travel pack list that I had last year so I started making a new one a few weeks ago. What are some of the things you guys are making sure that you pack? Any tricks to saving space? lol.
We quit taking luggage years ago.......we can cram alot of stuff in our carry ons...if we need something else we just buy it there. Really really dislike waiting on the luggage after arriving in Cancun....
wow nice!!! That's impressive! I don't have a carry on like the ones most people do. Mine is a little wheelie bag and then i bring my huge travel purse. I need to learn to pack lighter! lol.
Hi Hammie, We have been to Cancun several times and have never checked a bag! always carry on and an oversized hand bag for extras! One suggestion is to roll all your clothes! Most everything we take is light weight so it's easy to do! My biggest issue in the past is my shoes! haha! I seem to sneak a few in my hubbies LoL! but I have gotten better over the years! the only thing that stinks about not checking a bag is coming home if I want to bring stuff back it's hard to find any room, So this year I am considering a check bag! Trying to get to the Golden(first time there) this April, have stayed at the Great before Oh yeah just love reading your posts'!
There are a few different things to think of. If you have no shame and don't mind the "naughty toys" open for inspection then get a bigger carry-on and women and men alike can get away with a large purse/backpack so long as it will fit under the seat in front of you. The other problem with this is that you can't pack whipped cream, liquor, or other "problem items", like scissors, shavers/razors and what have you. You can go to walmart and buy the "space saver bags" they vac seal you clothes and shrink stuff like crazy. The problem then is you need to think ahead for the flight home. The night before, pay off one of the housekeeping to be able to keep the vacuum in the room to be able to repack your stuff. The vacuum has to have a hose attachment though also. Checked bags may take time and $ but can make things a lot easier in other aspects as well.
haha my ex husband always rolls his stuff. I guess the air force teaches them how to fit your life inside of one duffel. I will try to roll this year! The issue is that I'm staying at the Great this year... and bringing my little one. So things like packs of diapers, swim diapers, wipes, his float, shover and pail, etc can't be rolled. lol if it wasn't for him I could swing only one suitcase. His dad and I have talked and we will be sharing space in his duffel! LOL Yeah.. I'm going to do the roll technique to save space but I'm just going to have to check one if not two bags. I don't mind waiting for luggage. I actually find it exciting. The last few years the luggage came SUPER quick. As soon as I get through customs I go to the bathroom to change into something skimpy any way... put on sunblock, etc. haha can never forget the whip cream! Chocolate whip cream, banana whip cream lol etc etc. YUM! Furry handcuffs too!
