Although, I am a seasoned traveler, I tend to overpack. I need some packing tips as I always end up taking too much and it all has to be washed when we get home due to sand and humidity.

I cannot get motivated and I leave in 5 days. Do you make a list? We also usually do not go for 7 nights as we are this time so I really need some advice or my bags will both weigh 70 lbs!

    Thanks!

    Don't bother packing underwear ;)

My bags were overweight last trip, so I hear you on the packing issue. The main problem for me was all the damn shoes. I suggest laying out all the clothes you want to bring, and toss out any clothes that require shoes that you won't also wear with any other outfits. I also lay out the jewellery I need for each outfit, then see what jewellery can go with more than one outfit to reduce weight.

As for packing too many clothes, I figured out on my first trip to TTR that I didn't need any daytime streetwear. So this time, I am only bringing bikinis & swim cover-ups for the days, and little Lycra dresses for nighttime. Unless, of course, you plan to go off the resort in the daytime.

I have some great linen clothes, but I leave those behind because who wants to iron on their holiday, and then you have to wash and iron that stuff again for hours once you get home.

I totally make a list (but then again I am admittedly quite anal) so I don't forget anything important. I keep the list on my computer, as many of the things I need for every Mexican holiday (especially the toiletries). Then you can just follow the list without having to do any thinking.

I'm jealous you're off to TTR so soon! I have to wait for April. I am hoping to do Week 8 one year, though. You guys sound like a fun group!

Pack stuff in the Bubba and use it as a suitcase.

use the bubbas for stuffing, shoes for stuffing, whatever. Be honest with yourself about what you will actually wear. You can wear the same shoes with multiple outfits, beside most people aren't looking at the shoes anyway. Going to start cramming the carry ons tomorrow

I just finished packing and Vicki is working on it now. Not going well. We are coming with one checked bag and two carry ons. I'm staying 10 days but Vicki just extended her part of the vacation to 2 weeks. We are rolling clothes up as it saves room. Someone suggested vacum packing their clothes, as it sucks the air out. Either way, they are all going to have to be ironed. A casualty of the packing process is some costumes. :icon_sad: Tomorrow we will probably have to start all over again. Plane takes off early Sun. AM.

Well Theresa you are way ahead of me. I always pack the night before & wonder where all my vacation clothes & swimsuits are. Lori just shakes her head & laughs at me. :icon_lol:

The insulated cups do make for good storage for sunglasses & anything small & fragile.
