Ok, I've seen posts on here that talk about packing for TTR and how some people get away with just a carry-on for a week. I don't know how they do it.
Yes we are going for 10 days but unbelievably we have 4 bags to check and 2 carry-ons. It's unreal.

This trip is a little different as we are going scuba diving a couple of days so one of the bags is for gear but that still leaves 5 other bags. We participate in some of the theme nights but come on!:banghead:

1 bag for my clothes, 1 bag for her clothes, 1 for shoes and party stuff, 1 for scuba gear, 1 carry-on with swim suit and travel stuff for him, 1 carry-on with swimsuit bottoms and travel stuff for her.

How does everyone else pack for 7-10 days?

If your wife likes multiple outfits (and lets be honest, I like the multiple outfits) and she loves shoes, you are at 2 bags already. Then some of her stuff in my bag, yes carryon for cameras, suit and 1 change of clothes incase your luggage gets delayed. As to scuba diving, we are avaid divers, but when we travel somewhere and we are only diving 2 days over a 10 day trip, we simply do not take all the gear. I may take my own regulator and/or mask, but it simply is not worth it to lug all that stuff for 2 days. Save yourself the strain of dragging your stuff here and there for only 2 days. The rental gear in Cancun/Cozumel is actually good stuff now, not like it was 20 years ago. As long as you have your mask that fits right, let them clean the gear. You get done diving and then just start partying again. I know it is a hard thing to do first time to let go of all that gear you spent thousands on, but unless you are diving every day for 5-7 days, just not worth it.

I do agree with you on the scuba gear. We actually don't have it all yet as we are newbies but we are taking some things. I have big feet and it never fails that rental fins are just too tight whenever we have snorkled so I need my own and boots. Plus believe it or not I get cold in the water after a short period of time and I like to have my own wet suit which is a bit thicker and a lot cleaner (lol).
This is our 5th trip to TTR and it makes me laugh that every year we end up with more luggage not less.

This is us. I can get buy on a carry-on and a backpack. She needs one checked bag for her shoes, alone. But, hey, whatever makes her happy, I say.

We roll everything, it still amazes me how much I can pack doing it this way, and once you get there, hang it up, with the humidity all the wrinkles come out, plus there is an iron in the room if needed.

I roll everything as well. Really helps with quantity of stuff and with fewer wrinkles.

Shoes is the biggest problem but I have learned to cut down in that department. I used to bring 1 bag for shoes and 1 for clothes. Traveling for ten days and bringing 25 pairs was pointless cuz I never wore them all. I have condensed down to 1 bag for both. Shoes layer the bottom of the bag, and I always roll everything else. It is amazing how much you can fit in the bag by rolling the clothes and it cuts down on wrinkles. My dressy clothes go into hubby's garment bag and I have deleted the carryon as well. My smartass husband always calls me Imelda Marcos. lol

To a couple of the responses.

I roll everything as well but I can pack it so well that it way exceeds the 22kg allowance we have per bag and it is cheaper to take another bag then to take the over weight charge. Figure that one out!

Shoes are a problem for us as well because as I have mentioned in past posts I want to look nice for my lady as she works so hard to look great for me. Therefore I have to take runners, dress shoes and flip flops, plus a set of runners I wear on the plane. Now, my shoes are size 14 so with three pairs packed I have taken up half the bag. (lol)

The other "problem" now is the value of the luggage. 10 day trip means at least one bikini per day, 3-5 extras just in case. 15 bikinis at average of $90 each you have $1,350 just in swimsuits.

Does anyone get insurance on their luggage?
