Let me know if this makes sense, Instead of packing tons of clothes and crap Im thinking of simply packing a few things and stopping by walmart the first day to buy some shorts, tshirt, etc. which I can throw away if needed. I also figured it would be much cheaper than buying them here in the US

You have no clothes here that you can bring with you? I don't think I understand the reasoning behind this...

I figure instead of carrying around a large suite case I can just bring a small one with a few things (1-2 pairs of shirts, shoes, a pair of jeans and a pair of shorts) The rest I would just buy over their. I need to buy new swim trunks and cargo shorts anyway for the trip.

So If I end up going to day glow and get all paint crap over me I much rather just throw away the shirt and shorts rather than packing it and ruining rest of my stuff. Also if there's a foam partying going on Id do the same. Ive attended both type of parties in the past and the smell afterwords is just horrible.

Well, I don't think you'll need jeans in Cancun. I understand your logic, especially with the high fees that airlines charge for checked bags now.

I'm going to Cancun for five nights. I have a carry-on size bag that can fit two shorts, swim trunks, flip-flops, two sport shirts, and a couple of polo shirts. That should be more than enough. I also have a padded backpag that I use for my iPad and camera.

Jeans are essential....I'm not a big fan of going to the clubs in cargos...even in the Cancun where it's warm during the day the nights can get a tad chilly (with a good gust of wind), plus they look better. Just me though...

What about regular non-cargo shorts? You can get the summer-weight chinos or linen pants too. I'm sorry, but jeans in the tropics is about as insane, in my respective opinion, as a wool suit.

Yeah, you probably won't need jeans! Its pretty hot inside the clubs. I always wear shorts/dresses.. and a lot of other people wear shorts!

Fletch is right on both counts it can get chilly and for dude anyway, jeans are much more fashionable.

Go on youtube and look up "How to pack a carry on suitcase"!

I did this last year and really you wouldnt believe how much you can fit...I had 2 pairs of jeans, about 8 to 10 shirts(long and short sleeve), 2 pairs of shoes, shorts, socks and undies all in an average carry on.

Then use a bookbag for some extra stuff you couldn't fit in your carry on.
Usually airlines will let you have both for free bags.
