We arrived Sunday 2-13-11 in the middle of the afternoon and were told they did not have rooms for us and put us up in their kids water park resort for the 1st night, what a let down.
Did they at least give you a nice upgrade when you returned or money back? I got there on Saturday the 12th at noon and there were a TON of people waiting for rooms. $10 got me a room in thirty mins but clearly they were not overbooked yet. But I saw many of the same people waiting for rooms at 3ish. End result is you shouldn't have to be in this situation but they frequently overbook. Same thing happened in feb 2010. I know next year I will be sure we don't arrive on the weekend so we don't have to deal with the stress of getting a room we already reserved and booked.
That's unfortunate, hopefully they did something to make it up to you. Someday hotels and airlines might actually figure out how to book properly
Yeah, as Kyle said, there were a lot of people waiting on the 12th. We were lucky to get our room, but a few other couples we know spent the night at the water park place. They did get a free three night stay for next year or the choice of a spa credit!
We met two couples last week that dealt with this. Both did the "Lion King" night away from TTR. Both got the upgrades. Seems like a bad policy for TTR to overbook the hotel with many people traveling thousands of miles for a once a year (some once-in-a-lifetime) vacation. Very bad policy.:banghead: One of the couples (great people) told us that their travel agent did get them a free voucher for a four night stay at TTR for all of the screw ups and confusion.
When they bump you to another resort, do you get a TR braclet so you can hang at the resort and just sleep at the other place? Anyone know?
also, are you still as likely to get bumped if you book with a travel agent and travel company like funjet? we are coming in on sunday too, and now i am getting something else to stress about!
I don't think it happens that much at TTR . You don't hear much about it. What they will do is slip a piece of paper under your door offering you 3 free nights on your next visit to TTR, if you go to one of there sister resorts, that way making room for other guests. Hopefully it's not a new trend
Been 5 years in a row and have always booked thru tour operators that include flight n hotel and have never been bumped. So relax alittle n get ready for the trip of a lifetime
We were given 3 night vouchers for another trip, massages and upgraded to Ocean View, but we did not get king size beds as we had booked to start with. TTR paid for taxi back and forth from the other resort so we did party at TTR that night. We had 3 couples and booked thru 3 different agencies,Expedia, Travel.com and a travel agent, none were much help. I had contacted the Resort a week or so ahead of arrival and asked for 3 rooms near each other, I'm guessing that was part of the reason we got moved because they figure if they moved one of us we would all go and that would free up 3 rooms at TTR. There was no leaving voucher under the door we had to deal with the manager, sign that we took responsibility, and wait for voucher to be typed up. Mutiple trips to manager and probably 1.5 hrs to get our vouchers.
