Just back fromn TTR at midnight last night. I am not functional. It took me 20 minutes to figure out my coffee pot and I think I stuck my cell phone in the wash. All the info we gathered here was so very helpful. Paul and I talked - and it would be very hard to go to another resort after our experience. First off - What am I doing with all these clothes on? The staff and activities were a blast. The highlights were the people we met and Steve's Boob Cruise. And maybe even more important - just letting loose, feeling free to be me. The downsides. The beds are the pits and my back is killing me. And well, this might not be popular here but Chino's - after about two days - that little man got on my nerves. I don't mind cursing - in fact I love it. I loved the sexual banter. Two things come to mind that were just not something I can go along with. First - It's a no one knows you and no one gives a fuck attitude. So..............when Chino's made fun of some ladies who were older or more voluptuous - that pissed me off. I loved that the women felt self-confidant to let it all out there. It would be very easy to push the envelope and make all the women feel like the beautiful, sexual beings they are - regardless of age, size, cup size etc. He also used the word "RETARDED" about 12 times in a minute and a half. I have a daughter with mental retardation. This word is acceptable as a put down as calling someone the "N" word. There is no excuse for putting down an already marginalized society. The good definately outweighed the bad. A BIG shout out to Steve and his cruise. The crew was amazing making sure everyone had fun. There were no put downs. Class all the way. And Lastly................I am the proud winner of the Sex Trivia contest. I will brag about that one into my old age!!! Ha!!! Sitting here looking at snow and a pile of laundry and other chores to do. I can't believe I have to put on something more than bathing suit bottom. Way too much work!! Thanks again for all the great info on here. I recommended it to a lot of our new friends down there. Hope to see them on here. Shannon
Great trip report.. we haven't seen that many lately.. one question... is there a pool party on Fridays and was the pool heated.. lol it been a huge topic on here...
Thanks for the report and for being honest about Chino. I agree, the cursing and the sex jokes are fine, and when he makes fun of the overly drunk guys who think every girl at the pool owes them something, I'm applauding - but when he attacks people in utterly inappropriate ways it ruins the time. As a handicapped person, I was always snubbed from his games. Everyone else there is so accepting of all body types, and he makes you feel like the middle school outcast. But there seems to be an unspoken rule that if Chino offends you then TTR is not for you. I just wish it didn't have to be that way, but the reality is that most people are entertained the most at humor at the expense of others. I love the place and can't wait to go back, but wish insults weren't part of the package.
Same for us! After Temptation, every other resort would just seem boring. I'm totally with you on both of these as well. Chinos is great most of the time, but there's no reason to put down people for their physical appearance. That totally undermines the "no one gives a shit" vibe that most of us so appreciate about TTR. And you're right about the use of "retarded" as well. There are plenty of other words to use if you want to insult someone's intelligence. There's no need to pick one that not only insults the person you're targeting but a whole group of disadvantaged people as well. Doing so just displays a lack of creativity.
Totally feel the same way when we return from TTR, too many clothes on. When I'm with the kids at our local pool, it's sooo weird to be wearing a top. Thanks for posting the TR.
Chinos used to get on my nerves. I am used to him now. As far as crass humour is concerned my position is simple. Everything is on the table. There is no place a line can be drawn that makes everyone happy.
We got back on the 20th and the pool was not heated at all which was disappointing as a few days where mostly cloudy and it seemed to get quiet around the main pool quiet early about 4pm.
Thanks for the honest report about your stay at Temptations.(and warning about the little guy Chino) We are about to make our first trip there in a few days. From what I hear now is that Chino's entertainment style conflicts with the resort's motto of "Nobody knows you and nobody gives a shit". I personally don't like the word "retard" used in any form of entertainment and I can see how a person that might be older or skinnier or heavier than they used to be but have the courage to still go out and have a good time wouldn't feel so welcome if they become the brunt of the jokes because of appearance.. I'll hold judgement until I experience the trip. I am so hoping for a good time, but not at the expence of others. I guess I'll know in a few days if this is the place for us to vacation or not.
I wouldn't worry about Chinos too much, 99 out of 100 people don't get offended by his delivery. He's actually quite quiet reserved when not on the mic. his character so to speak is that of a jackass. I am a bigger guy, he's poked fun at me on the mic before but it's all in the context of the game at the time.
