Last week on the way there we were delayed in Miami for 5 hours. Ran a 60 dollar bar tab while waiting etc. Missed the first DAY of our 3 night quick getaway to TTR from our 6 and 3 year old at home. chose this flight so we could get to TTR by noon and enjoy the day. This was Spirit who probably was aware of this when at ticketing and charged us 40 bucks to check the bag. When on board still charged 3 dollars for water and 4 dollars for coke. About 30 Spirit flights on the board at the time departing that day -- only flight that was delayed. I'll assume its just out tough luck.
Awww...really sorry to hear that, hardrocktampa. I can't imagine how incensed you were. Not a good way to start a holiday, being P.O.'d. I hope once you got to TTR you had a great time. I really enjoyed your photo countdown...thanks for that!

One trip, I missed the connection in Miami since the flight left early without about 20 passengers coming from Tampa(American). Had to stay over in Miami so I arrived a day late. American wouldn't do anything, didn't even want to pay for the hotel. Good luck.
We lost a full nights stay in Cuba a couple of years ago. We were reimbursed for the nights stay through the insurance and we bought we ran up quite a bill at the airport bar. Our friends who were with us were also reimbursed for the nights stay, but they also put the bar tab at the airport on there, and got that back as well. It may be worth a try
I prefer not to fly Spirit anymore. They nickel and dime for everything. There's a checked bag fee, carry on bag fee and now there's a fee to pick your own seat. I think that's just going too far.
I ageree with you, I HATE Spirit. They sucked me in thinking that it was a good deal. For whatever reason Jetblue went through the roof for flights recently. I was so mad when I looked at changing dates. They wanted $135 p/p to change the flight that is normally $142. They stick it to you at every opportunity they can.
Like you our trips are short and sweet (with the kids at home and all), painful to see people who were there when we left, still there when we leave---
Its worth a try on getting some thing from them. I must say you did good to keep the bar bill at 60 dollars. Thats about 1 drink per hour. 4 of us guys goingto daytona 500 had 5 hour delay and the bar bill was over 400 dollars. Good luck.
