    Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone had ever booked through Orbitz and if they can confirm if taxes and resort fees were included in the total price?

On Orbitz's website, when selecting the room type it states the following:
However when you click on "More Trip Details" on the right under "Trip Information" a window popsup with the following:
    .

I understand that any additional services are of course at an additional cost and not included.

I've contacted and spoken to three different Orbitz representative now who each gave a different answer. One yes (taxes and fees included), one no, and one who admittedly did not know and asked me to try back tomorrow when they check with the hotel.

I have an existing reservation in which nowhere does it show the taxes/fees in the price breakdown, but it also doesn't state that taxes and fees would be collected, as other websites do. I've booked with Orbitz in the past (hotel in US) and it does show the taxes in the price breakdown. Given that this is all-inclusive (the US hotel was not), I'm not sure if the same would apply.

Since Orbitz cannot give a definitive answer, and I'm not sure I'd trust it regardless could anyone please share their experience?

    Thanks in advance!

I hope so and pretty sure it is. I booked through them too. Use the promo code 150vaca for $150 off. When are you going?

Thanks for the quick replies! We'll only be there from Sept 1-3rd and then the Aloft until the 11th since we're on a budget. :(

We booked the two nights separately and were able to get price match approved for both with hoteltravels.com What triggered my suspicion was that Orbitz would price match the competitor's base rate (excluding taxes and fees).

So for example, our total for 1 night through Orbitz was $197.20. Hoteltravels this morning was priced at $149.22 + $23.88 Hotel tax and services.

When we price matched with hoteltravels, I specifically quoted the total $173.10 and they price matched it to the base rate of $149.22. The same when we price matched the second night with despegar.com, which is leading me to believe that the total from Orbitz does not include taxes and fees.

If it does then we got an absolutely amazing deal because Orbitz will issue you an additional $100 Orbucks ($150 & $200 for high tier reward members).

PS-- What are baggage fees? =\

    PPS- What are departure taxes?

Thank you all for your infinite wisdom! This is our very first trip to Cancun, and Mexico in general, so we're unfamiliar with the policies.

The baggage fees are what the airline charges you to bring bags. It depends on the carrier. We try to only fly on baggage inclusive airlines such as Southwest. We booked through Vacations Express and will be flying Interjet. (Free bags and booze on the flight!)

We always use orbitz. The total is the total.

The only extra we pay is USA Transfers to the resorts and tips to the bar and restaurant staff. That's it.
