Crystal and I are considering Spring Break (ok I am considering since I will be the one paying for it) We would only have about four days. Where do you think we will get the most enjoyment for the least amount of money and how? We are torn between Cancun and Panama City Beach. I know Cancun is cool but I am not very good at figuring out how to do things cheaply.
Hey Sierra, how have you been?! I haven't done Panama City, but I have done Daytona. While it will be a fair amount cheaper, I wouldn't recommend Panama City. First of all, the weather is really iffy in PC. You could have days where it is only 65 degrees. That's not even beach weather. If you can only go for like 4 days, how terrible would it be to have a 2-3 day cold/wet spell? It would ruin the trip. When I was in Daytona, there was a day where it was 55 degrees and raining, it was terrible. 3 hours south, in Miami, it was 70. I've also noticed about Daytona, and heard similar about PC, that it is a bit trashy. Because you can drive there and it doesn't require a passport, you end up with a fair number of sketchballs and deadbeats. The crowd is also younger (which is ironic because the drinking age in Mexico is 18). I chalk that up to teenagers simply not having the money to afford Cancun (I wasn't able to afford it in college). Parents also have a lot more control over their kids when they are 18/19, and parents seem to think Panama City is significantly safer than Cancun (which I also disagree with). You'll get drunk and have fun in both places, but I think Cancun is worth the investment. If not Cancun, then Acapulco, Cabo, and Negril (Jamaica) are all good choices as well (I've been to all of them except for Cabo).
I've been to Panama City. It's nothing compare to Cancun. It was cold 4 of the 5 days we were there last week of March. Crowd was mainly people from Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida so nowhere as diverse as Cancun. It seemed and felt safe. The beach is pretty ugly comparing to Cancun. The trip was alright, I have no interest in going back.
I went to Panama City Beach for my first two Spring Breaks and I had a lot of fun. So I know what to expect. I just dont know how to make Cancun cheap for a four day trip and wonder if it would even be worth it.

I've to PC and it wasn't all that I wasn't as hyper as I am now going to Cancun for my first time...... And like Steve and others said weather sucks big time in PC around march/April ..... Just keep searching hopefully ull find a good deal for Cancun ......

not sure what your budget is either? Flying on a tues,wed,thurs is cheaper then the weekend flights.. also booking on a tues wed is usually cheaper!
You guys are so helpful. Here is the biggest problem. I will have the money to pay for the trip mid January. I know prices tend to rise A LOT around then. Our dates would be like the 10th thru the 13th and I know traveling on the weekend ups the prices too. If any of you guys will be there around then and maybe wanna let us share a room with you for a bit that would be AMAZING. Of course we would help pay for it and we are good roomies for the most part other than drunken antics and copious amounts of nudity :xyxthumbs:.
