Thinking of planning a trip to New York next December, got a cousin who lives in New Jersey so also opportunity to see him and his wife... Possibly taking a couple of friends with me... Looking at 4 nights... What would you recommend to do while there apart from catch up with my relatives..

    Check out Times Square.

Go and see the Christmas displays in the store windows...I know you're a guy but they really are spectacular.

    Visit the Empire State Building.

Skating at Rockefellar Center with hot chocolate afterwards.

Try and score some half price tickets fro a broadway show.

Depending where in Jersey they live check out Atlantic City.

Dinner in Little Italy and/or China Town.

Visit Ellis Island and the Statute of Liberty.

it really depends on what kid of fun you like. NYC has just about everything like clubs, bars, tourist type things. anything really.

but Karan pretty much said it all. All those things are must dos if you visit NYC.

I would say for a 4 day trip, do Ellis Island and statue of liberty.....for sure.....then just spend the rest of the time wandering around with no particular place to be.

If your into food, I'd hit at least 2 of the top restaurants during the 4 day stay.....

First step... get out of Jersey

Second step...see all the good advice above.

There is so much to see and do in NYC. What to recommend really depends on what your tastes are. For me, when I go down there I like to do a lot of off-the-beaten-path type stuff. I go see punk bands, eat all types of ethnic food, downtown art galleries, etc. If you are into any of that stuff, let me know and I will point you in the right direction in addition to all the must see stuff.
