I have received two emails from cancuncare site saying someone has tried unsuccessfully to log into my account, and was unable to obtain my password....So if god forbid someone hacks my account and starts typing things that dont normally sound like me, then please know its most likely not me, i dont know how good people are at hacking accounts but most of you should know me by now and what i would normally type and say .... below i have pasted, what the last email said from cancuncare... Dear backs13, Someone has tried to log into your account on Cancuncare with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes. The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 180.72.108.141 All the best, Cancuncare Im not a computer wizard to know what or whose IP that is, but thats the message I got , So I wanted to pass that along to everyone. I just saw that malaysia thing when i looked it up, again im not a computer guy so i dont know who can do what and how LOL....but in the four years of being on this site, i dont recall that ever happening before, so it may be a coincidence but just in case, I wanted to let people know in case something is typed that is out of the ordinary for me ...
Jim, I think you reputation is safe with us. You have put enough on here that if you start sounding like Dave and Ellie the red flags will go up. Kinda of scary though as I am not good at the computer in and out's either.
Someone sent a pm from Brewster... this PM was asking for a password for some picture site .. and Brewster did not send it ... for fact.. it was before the Dave and Ellie thing... probably a good enough reason for every one to change your password to a strong one.. we just chalked it up to being strange.. as far as we know .. it hasn't happened again..
Well I changed mine just to be safe. Should have done it a long time ago but just get lazy! Another safety tip - don't check the box to save your password. Manually type it in each time to every site you visit!
Thank you, I just wanted to put the warning out there, especially because i have made many many friends on here over the years and I would hope the ones that know would know whats my type of comments, but just in case... I enjoy this site and the friends on here way to much to let someone ruin that for me...
If it is Dave I wouldn't worry too much.. he comes across as not smart enough to hack anything. I'm guessing he tried the low tech way and guessed 5 times. *L* But this is a good time for everyone to make sure their password isn't something obvious. It's always a good idea to have a number somewhere in the middle of your password.
I'm 99.99% sure this isnt anything to do with recent events. I am assured by Dave there will be no further problems or communication. Unfortunately, I have no explanation other than to say I've had reports like this sporadically throughout the 8 yr life of the site. It's probably some automated bot used by spammers.
