Thankfully we don't put TTR in the "Luxury" category !!..... I'm sure a few topless girls will put them off and if not, the sight of Chino and numerous naked "bums" arriving on the Boob Cruise would frighten them to death .....LOL
Hyatt Ziva in Puerto Moreles Not sure about patrols that far south, but when at TTR in October, we saw armed patrols in BDUs on the beach most mornings.
This year we had an armed patrol of 4 come through the resort. They walked right by the sexy pool, between the pool and the building. Everyone in the pool stopped what they were doing to watch them walk by. It was pretty funny to be honest how it actually go quiet for a few seconds.

Wasn't even in Cancun, it was 40 mins South. Drug gangs killing members of other drug gangs is a daily occurrence here, as it is in Chicago and many other cities. The only thing making this somewhat newsworthy is that it happened on a beach near to a hotel instead of the more usual downtown. Nothing new, carry on." "Arrived by boat and left by boat. They didn't run through the hotel. At least according to local news which is always the best and fastest source. Not even sure why it would warrant a piece on NBC nightly news unless it was to further the usual agenda."
We feel more comfortable in Cancun than we do walking around many areas here in Vegas. Drug cartels generally keep an agreement in Cancun as there is an understanding that shootings will ruin the lucrative tourist trade. However, there is always someone (usually very low level/peddling drugs on the beach) that either doesn't have permission to deal, hasan't paid the tax or has ignored previous warnings. It's not systemic in Cancun. Cartels do love to send messages though (but it's more internal than anything).
