I’m staying at Dos Playas Feb 20th-27th, and have just realized that they do not provide you with bottled water (or cans of beer) or a mini fridge. This is going to be an issue for me. I don’t drink tap water at home, and I’m sure as hell not going to drink it in Mexico.
I have a weak stomach to begin with so drinking tap water is not an option for me. I’m usually very careful when I go away on vacation with what I drink and eat.

So my question is this. Is there a near by corner store (walking distance) were I might be able to get bottled water and beer? I can use the sink and tub to keep my beer cold so long as the hotel has an ice maker, witch I’m sure they do.

I’m am familiar with the city of Cancun, however I have never stayed in the HZ, always been in PDC or further down the coast, and would come into Cancun at night.
From what I understand Dos Playas is near “Fat Tuesday” at KM6.

My other option would be to take the bus to Walmart, and grab some water as well as a cheap cooler, but then I would have to take a taxi back with I don’t usually do, I like the bus better, however I’m not going to get on the bus with 2 cases of water and a weeks worth of munchies lol.

    Any Ideas?

i believe there is a small convenience store by the bbg which isnt too far from where you are you can probably get what you need there.

if they have a gift shop in the hotel they would most likely have bottled water in there. i know when i stayed at the bbg with no mini fridge we did this alot. i dont know if hotels in cancun actually have ice machines. ive yet to see one, but i could be wrong.

the trip to wal mart is probably your best bet. although you should be able to get bottled water from the hotel bars most times of the day...

did we not check the amenitities before we booked the trip

If the Dos has a gift shop, it is my experience that the hotel gift shops are grossly over priced.

I never booked this Hotel my buddy from Edmonton booked it for us. At $800.00 tax in for AI, I kind of figured that it would be no frills place. No biggy I will survive , I’m not hard to please. All I need is : Beer, beach, food, bed and WATER lol

That is great news!!! Do you know if they sell beer as well?

I think Dos Playas is at km6.5, and I stayed at 7.5, basically one bus stop away. There's a supermarket, internet cafe, 2 little cafes that serve breakfast and lunch, a laundromat, and some other stuff right on the corner at 7.5. The supermarket has everything... beer, liquor, snacks, sunscreen, etc... and the food and drink isn't expensive at all. I think I bought liters of bottled water for about US$0.70 each, and gatorade was about $1.20 for the same size.

Much closer than Walmart if you don't feel like traveling too far.

Do you remember if that is on the same side as Dos Plays? and is it near the giant Mexican flag or before it?

The giant Mexican flag is downtown, this is the opposite direction from Dos Playas and on the lagoon side, so across the street from you.

    Did you ever play Frogger?

I have a funny story about frogger , from the last time I was there. I ended up staying over at a strange hotel onE night and when I woke up I had to chew my arm off to get out of bed and played frogger to get to the bus stop. I was still really drunk and the heat was unbelievable. I nearly got squished like 3 times… I don’t advise playing frogger, in the heat while you are still drunk.
