So we are in South Jersey....in North Jersey there's a nude beach. Gunnison Beach in Sandy Hook. Hear good things about it. Making our first trip there Monday. Didn't know if anyone here has ever been there so you can give us tips???? I hear the walk from parking lot to beach is like a half mile? Rock On, Doug & Patty
Gunny is our favorite beach! There is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the water, but it goes quickly with the anticipation of arriving. Be sure to stop at the rest rooms in the welcome area before heading down the path to the beach. The water can be a bit cold to wade into later... There are people of every shape and size. Alcohol is allowed, but no glass, and there are no trash cans. You have to carry out what you carry in. Pack a cooler that you can carry. I recommend one with a shoulder strap. I also put a strap on our beach chairs so we can carry everything. Pull carts are a pain across the long strip of sand you have to cross to get to the water. Once there, strip, lotion up, and do what you want. You can lay back and enjoy the sun, walk up and down the beach, or play some frizbie in the large sandy area behind the sunbathers. There are sometimes volleyball games started in the mid-afternoon. My wife and I just enjoy sipping cocktails/beer all day, reading books, and soaking up that vitamin D. Have a great time!
