How did you teach your kids how to count?

Been trying to teach my boy how to count to 20. Not much luck with these 3 numbers. He can sail through any other set of numbers up to 50.

Same luck with the Spanish numbers. Unoce, doce......cuatroce, cincoce...

It took me a while to figure that one out as a youngster. "Eleventeen" just made sense to me. It rhymes with "seventeen." It finally sunk in that there is no eleventeen, that it's just eleven. So just try explaining that, and if he's counting so well otherwise, I wouldn't be worried.
**I should note that I do not have any kids, just remembering what it was like to be a kid myself.**
