Do both. Go out a couple of nights. Stay at the resort a couple nights. Then determine where you had more fun and do that for the rest of your trip. Not mutually exclusive.
Agreed, both have something to offer. The resort is a blast but the bars in the hotel zone are really amazing as well.
Resort stay is cool when you just introduce yourself to everyone and have fun, but the downtown bars & clubs are also cool. You can get VIP service at some of these clubs for about $100, & that,s for about 6 people. When are you going.
We've told ourselves every year that we'd go out to one of the clubs one night. It hasn't happened. We're good hanging with our friends at Paty O's.
^Agreed!! If you've never been there--it's a "must see". If at all possible--go with a group and do the VIP--so as to avoid what we call the "snake pit"!!

The resort does "club nights"... Its basically $50 including transportation THERE, and open bar with a private TTR section... If you like being elbow to elbow, go to the clubs.. If you want to see a "show", go to coco bongo. If you want to just have a blast partying in a comfortable atmosphere, get absolutely SHITFACED, and not have to worry about finding your way back to the resort, Paty O's is the place to be. We've debated a club on our past 3 trips... Have yet to actually go lol... And honestly, have no real desire.
