Hi everyone, we will be in Cancun Dec. 4th-11th, and will be staying at the Riu Caribe. We will probably only be getting out once or twice to enjoy the nightlife in Cancun. We are all in our early 30's. What would you suggest would be a good time. I want to hit a few different bars, don't really want to go with the hotel, but we are not ruling it out. We are more laid back, so the bigger nightclubs aren't necessary unless you have a place that is a must go. Are the bars all pretty much in the same area if we wanted to go to a few different places per night? Thanks in advance!

Coco Bongo is a must go, only because it is the most famous club in Cancun that you will regret not going if you don't... For smaller clubs and bars, I recommend you keep the following on your short list:
    SeƱor Frog's
    Slices
    Cancun Roo
    Sweet
    Mix
Pancho & Willy's-call ahead to make sure they are open
El Fish Fritanga-this is a smaller bar/restaurant, located overlooking the lagoon and a great place to unwind during the day or night.

For a very different experience, you should check out the Salsa club at Punta Cancun called Azucar. You will also probably enjoy going to Centro (Downtown) to stroll and hang around the cantina style establishments on Av. Yaxchilan, just south of Av. Uxmal. Many of these bars and restaurants feature live music after dark and great drink specials.

I doubt line ups / parties have been finalised for March 2011. Keep an eye on the Spring Break forum and I'm sure people will post whats happening when as soon as news is released.
