So Jannet and I headed back to the hotel to buy a night pass after the cruise last Monday. Intended to meet up with a few folks from the cruise although half of them had crashed before we arrived at 9pm! Last time we bought a night pass was a few months ago and we paid $75 per person, but we do get a 50% discount on that (eventually - if we make enough phone calls!) So, $75 for us is not a bad price for a night out with good people. $150 less so if there's no discount. This time we were told night pass prices had changed. It's now $60 for ladies and a whopping $180 for guys. So, a couple wanting a night pass now have to pay $240 for the privilege. Again we managed to get 50% off but even $120 for a night out (considering we didnt get there until 9) is a little pricey. $240 for 8 hours or so is kind of silly when you can book a room for less than $200 and stay for the best part of 2 days. We were told that they had had problems with groups of local guys going there for a night out, and I can understand that - considering Paty O's is the best nightclub in Cancun! But surely a couples night pass at a cheaper rate would be fair.
Is this the same night-club hopper I did where we take the bus to three clubs? I think the bus we took down was entirely guys... maybe one couple. They're fixing to have an empty bus. More business for hard working wonderful taxi drivers!
I imagine that it's a form of crowd control too Steve. If the hotel is full then they can't sell more rooms, and the high price for us "dirty men" (lol) would stop a group of several guys looking for a night out putting the resort on their nightly list. Makes sense to me for the most part. The bars are where you go to meet people from an 'unlimited pool' so to speak, but for the most part the resort should be focused on what the hotel guests want. Of course given the business relationship you guys have with the hotel I don't know why they don't just give you and Jannet some kind of contractor access to the place. Next time this happens if you guys need a cheaper way in I'll just make you my roomies for a night lol!
I would think that with all the business you and Jannet help bring to Temptation, that they would comp you a pass anytime you want it. Maybe their marketing people need to enlighten the bean counters.
But in fairness Steve, you did get to hang out with us that night. You cant really put a price on that! :wink3:
I wish I would have realized that earlier.. Me: ::reading your follow-up post aloud:: My buddy: "You mean to tell me we just had an hour long in-depth analysis of our night-club adventure expenses for nothing?" Me: ""
I understand the price for men and I like that idea. What is amazing is they do not pay you to be there. Your cruise and web site draw customers. And they save money from the cruises because the patrons are not eating or drinking at the resort for most of that day. I say you let the web site know when you will be there and those at the hotel will come up with some cash for your arrival.
Well if you look at it from a venue comparison... for a couple at regular rates... The City... loud music, open bar (if you can get to it) packed with people so it's hard to move around... $130 (at $65 each) TTR... OK mediocre music (good at times) but you can talk or dance or both.. room to move around, food, open bar that you can get service at, swimming pool, half naked women running around (and that's just at the beginning of the night, less later - clothes that is) that your date might take as a suggestion... $240 Hmmmm.. is it worth the extra hundred? TTR is betting that it is.... Jamie
I love it. It limits the single guy demographic that you dont want coming to the resort..the huge packs of spring break types. When you have a large group of young 'gentlemen' and you tell the group we each have to pay $180 there are definitely going to be some in that group that say no way. Then the group ends up going somewhere else that works for everyone. However, if you tell a smaller group that is going to TTR for the right reason to pay $180 then they see the value as Jamie points out and go which is fine. I agree that there should be a couple rate that is similar to what it was previously.
