me & mike are newly engaged on december 30th. the ring is absolutely breath taking! he did a great job! i never even take it off! its gorgeous and i cant believe it! i want to show it off to everyone! mikey wants me to leave it at home and not risk losing it or getting it stolen! i already have gotten it sized to fit perfectly. what do you do? do you wear the amazing jewerly on the trip, or do you leave it at home and wear the costume stuff on vacations? any advice will be much appreciated!

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS. Second of all, LEAVE IT AT HOME. I was in Cabo one time, and a man lost his wedding ring in the pool. It really ruined the couple's holiday. I understand the urge to show off and beautiful new piece of jewelry, but it's not worth the chance that it will get lost or stolen.

Well, considering we're sister-in-laws, you already know what I do with my wedding set - Leave it at home! I would be devestated if I lost the engagement ring from Matt since it's so pretty, and if I lost the wedding band that he gave me and put on my finger on our wedding day. Sure, new jewelry can be bought, but those sentimental pieces of jewelry that symbolize love and commitment can never be truly replaced.

I've told you once and I'll tell you a million more times: I know how much you LOVE your ring, and it is definitely gorgeous and sparkly and simply beautiful, but it would be horrendous if it would get lost or stolen. It would ruin the entire vaca. Mike would be mad at you since this was his ONLY request of the vacation, to leave it home.

Wear the travel ring that you bought - and like you said - maybe it will turn your finger green from all the pool water, and Mike can buy you a nicer silver one when we go shopping one day :) hehehehehe

Susan lost her wedding set two trips ago on the flight home from TTR she took it off to put lotion on and put in her jean pocket & it fell out on plane . Susan Pretty upset is kinda an understatement!! Insurance covered some and she has a new one now..No biggie to me. Properly sized and on your finger pretty hard to loose I'm thinking . Loose fitting could be very devastating.....

Leave it at home. Even though a ring is perfectly sized, bad things can happen. A friend of ours lost his perfectly sized ring playing volleyball in the pool one year. We spent the rest of the day and most of the evening with snorkel masks on trying to find it to no avail. Fortunately someone who had seen us searching for it happened to step on it in the pool the next day and returned it! I say better safe than sorry.

    Leave it at home....

If you were to leave the resort, especially leave the hotel zone, you might end up being a target for the ring... so don't attract more attention than you already will if going to places where locals hang out mostly.

If you are staying at the resort and just around hotel zone and still want to have something to remind you of your special moment, you could buy a lookalike for as cheap as $30....?

    Just leave it at home...
Have him get on his knee and put it back on your finger when you get home. Then make love thinking about all the fun and hot times you had at TTR.

Congrats!! I agree with keeping it at home. If you feel like you need to have something on your finger You could always find a $20 ring that if u happen to lose it you wont be that upset. Trust me my husband is on his 7th ring. By that time a tattoo might be in order.

Thanks everyone! I think I will leave it at home! Better safe than sorry. I got a really cheap costume ring to wear instead and am hoping it changes my finger green so mikey will then hopefully buy me a silver one while we are there!!!
