We have returned from our first trip to Cancun...resumed to our daily life. Posting this report to try and help out others that are in the same situation we were in before we left. We found many helpful hints on this forum..and hope we can add more. We will try and make this as short as possible. We took American Airlines from Minneapolis MN to Dallas to Cancun and followed the same route back. All flights were on or ahead of schedule, very helpful, alot of leg room on the flights and no charge for checking our baggage. We were very happy with American Airlines. Prior to our trip, we noticed that alot of people suggested to use USA Transfers to get from the airport to our resort. We booked online to arrange the transfer. Our flight was moved up 2hrs for our arrival. We sent an email to them and they were there waiting for us! Our driver made us feel welcome to Cancun and told us various things about the area on our ride to our resort. He was very friendly. They were great. We highly recommend USA Transfers. Check in at the resort went very smooth. However, after our room was assigned, we were told that we would be taken on a tour around the resort. A guy came over and had us sit down to set up an apointment to meet with him in the morning. He would not take no for an answer - we really didn't care for this at all. We did not show up for the appointment that he went ahead and made for us. We found out later that it was to promote the resort's premier memberships. We did meet people that were premier members and they are very happy with what they have. However, this is not for us. You just need to hold strong and make sure that they understand you do not want to discuss these options. Membership is a personal preference. We were in the 5100 block of the resort. This block is a good location. The room was nice and very clean. Try and request a room on the lower floor. We were on the top floor and after a few days of those steps - it became kind of tough (especially after spending the day on the beach with adult beverages or having a late night at Paty O's) The food was awesome. We were able to visit all of the restaurants except for the Asian and Seafood. Food was very tasty, a wide variety, and fresh. The wait staff was outstanding. They always greated you with a smile and did everything in their power to be sure that you had anything and everything you needed. A burger at 1am from Paty O's was a must - they always hit the spot. We made reservations for the Italian restaurant for an elegant dinner for two. Very classy restaurant - the food was good and served with a flair. The drinks were very good. He likes whiskey and coke - JB or JD but thought that the Kentucky Gentleman whiskey they served was also good. We would divide our day up between sitting at the beach in the morning and work our way to the sexy pool later in the afternoon as room allowed. We were still able to hear the music being played and plenty of activity on the beach. We were in Cancun 5 full days and stayed at the resort all but one day. That day, we took a ferry to Isla Murjeuras - rented a golf cart and rode the perimeter of the entire island. Taking a golf cart over the island is something you must experience first hand. We would suggest renting a golf cart close to where you exit the ferry. (we bought our ferry tickets and the teller suggested we pre-purchase the cart so it was there when we got to the location - we spent time looking for the place and then spent some nerve wracking time trying to return it and make the ferry back home for the night!!) Also, be sure to take advantage of the water sport activities that are included with your stay at TTR. We rode on the Hobie Cat Sail boat and took out the kayaks. Another wonderful experience on the beautiful sea. These were definately a bonus to our stay in Cancun. The music played at TTR was not what we are used to listening to, but we enjoyed it. This music will be remembered in our minds as our Cancun music. The night life at TTR is awesome. I guess when you get back to your room between 3 - 6 am in the morning from Paty O's...you have had a good time. While we were there, TTR also put on various shows at the pool - very entertaining. The last night that we were there, they had a Carribean BBQ - the buffet was served outside around the pool. A beautiful way to spend our last evening. The staff was great. It is helpful to bring dollar bills for tips. The staff does not expect these tips, but are grateful and appreciate them. Last, but certainly not least - make friends through the CCC forum with people that will be there when you are. It is a wonderful feeling to come somewhere for the first time and have someone come up to you, knowing you already. It seems like a big reunion. We had the priviledge of meeting some wonderful people while we were there. These friends helped to make an already great trip be a totally awesome vacation. As you can tell...we had a wonderful trip...at a great resort with great weather..made awesome friends and lasting memories. You can't get better than that! P.S. we will be posting pictures soon
Great report - we hope to see you both again next time. What a great couple you are and now that this trip is over are you planning your next trip yet.. very addictive!
Making lasting memories is spot on! We'll remember and treasure the times we shared with you two dancing the night away at Paty'Os. It's hard to believe this was your first trip. You two jumped right into the party on day 1! We're certainly looking forward to hanging out with you again...we knew right away that you would be repeaters. Until next time...Cheers! Mrs. Dreamers
