My Husband and I won a free trip to Cancun in February, 2012. What a way to spend a Valentines Day!!! Well let's get beyond the blah, blah, blah. We were told we could switch our hotel stay to Temptation Resort. I am so excited. I've been trying all morning to share all the details with my Husband via text this morning (he is working so hard this morning). So, what I want to know is where we are getting a deluxe room, would it be worth the extra money for us to pay to get a jacuzzi room or even go one further to the next room type.... And, if any further information can be given, I am all ears. Thank you!!!!:aktion033:
Awesome! Never had a jacuzzi room cause I wonder how clean they can really be? But besides that we've always been very happy with our standard deluxe room. Any other questions you should probably specify. It is such an awesome place, to go into details would take forever!
We got a jacuzzi room thinking we would use it in the evening or at night when nothing else was going on but it seemed like there was ALWAYS something fun and exciting to do so we never used it.Never even crossed our mind.
Honestly, the room upgrade is worth it - and if you can upgrade to a Temptation Suite I would recommend that! We like quiet time in our room, and a small room without a jacuzzi would have been disappointing. The jacuzzi rooms on the patio overlook the pool, the Temptation Suites with jacuzzi bathtubs are ocean front. For us it was only $40 per night to upgrade from a jacuzzi room to a Temptation Suite - very worth it!! Read my tips for first timers that I posted last night, lots of info there. We just got back a few days ago. Have fun!
I did read your reviews. Where my Husband and I normally do cruises on Celebrity, because we have this trip for free.....airfare included......we couldn't refuse. I would like to see if we can upgrade to a different room, if possible. We splurge on our cruises, after all 2 weeks at sea we want a wee bit more pampering. Again, being a free trip, if we can upgrade, we can. After all, any time we can get a "break" from three teenaged daughters......we will jump on it! I do want to ask you...... the italian restaurant, your honest opinion of that is????
The Italian restaurant was ok. That was where I got the bacon-wrapped filet mignon and the menu never said anything about bacon. The steak was very small, but more in line with ordering filet mignon from a lower-end restaurant. And I ordered it medium, and got well-done. The Italian restaurant has the wine list that is absurdly expensive for the choices. Just order from the bar, or if you like sweet white wine then just drink the free wine mix drink they give you. Their house wine is worse than a 20 year old cheap box wine stored in an over-heated closet with a hole in the bladder bag - no kidding, it is undrinkable! My husband got the lasagna and he liked it. The portions are small at all the restaurants, but there are snack places late at night if you get hungry. We ate there twice, and the second time I ordered a chicken dish stuffed with ricotta cheese, and it was, again, something that was of the quality of Applebee's - not bad, and probably a $10-$12 menu item at a regular family restaurant. Since my husband had a reaction to something at the seafood restaurant, he stuck with the lasagna since he knew he was fine with that I ordered the steak from the seafood restaurant (not a seafood fan at all!) and again it came wrapped in bacon and never said so on the menu. That was my bad for not asking since it already happened to me once, but they really should have that on the menu! It ruins the meat for me because I really do hate the taste of bacon. I think they use the frozen bacon wrapped tiny filet you can buy in the grocery store in a shrink-wrapped package. But anyway, I don't like surprises like that. The seafood restaurant has a more elegant feel to it, and I like the privacy between tables. The Italian restaurant is not very private, but it is still nice looking. We didn't eat at the Asian place. We had dinner in our room for one night with drops of love and I think they got that food from the seafood place. My husband said the lobster was good, my prime rib was way over cooked, but the salad was good. If you want pampering, TTR is really not the place for you to expect that type of VIP service. The staff are nice enough, but they don't treat you with the pampering style that other hotels have on their concierge level floors. The seafood restaurant had the best table service by far, the other places were just ok -nothing special and we had to wait for water refills and other table service a little longer than we like. We were told when we checked in that drops of love guests are pampered and treated like VIPs, we never felt that way once while we were there - only when the manager sent us the vodka apology bottle did we have a sense of that. They were surprised that we even complained that the room service we were supposed to get didn't even exist, like there was something wrong with us and our expectation - even though the drops of love package clearly states room service for breakfast, lunch and dinner. So, long story short, this is not a place where the staff is going to lick you up one side and down the other, like the service we have had at many other fine hotels Know this going in and you'll be fine, we were seduced by the drops of love and that was our main problem.
You have to go to TTR! Rooms are pretty nice all around but there is a lot to do and see outside of your room as well! We met a lot of really great people and couples there! Coin toss on the jacuzzi, if you like meeting new people or couples and having a great all around time you might not use it - or you might meet a lot of nice couples and want to use it - could go either way there... Bottom line its pretty safe to say that you should have a lot of fun there. Read up on some of the post here on the forum and look through the pictures in the albums section. There are a lot of pictures also in the post too. Have a great time and make sure you post a trip report when you get back!
Trust me when I say, the beef carpaccio at the Italian restaurant is one of the best kept secrets of the resort. Probably the single best item I've EVER had at any resort, and by far the best carpaccio I've ever had, anywhere, including some very very high-end restaurants elsewhere. Overall, you'll LOVE the resort. Since you are getting the airfare and accommodations for free, you should definitely splurge a bit on the jacuzzi room. Be aware, the jacuzzi is basically a jacuzzi bathtub (fits 2-4ppl depending how well you know each other LOL), not a hot tub like a "Jacuzzi" brand standalone. Spend a few hours reading some of the reviews around this site and you'll soon see why this resort has one of the highest rates of repeaters in all of Cancun!
Rooms I wouldn't bother spending ANY money upgrading your room unless you expect the weather to be awful during your stay. We spent very little time in the room and any time spent there is well served with a (large if you bring friends) bed. There are always suckers...I mean...others that have upgraded that you can always meet and hang out with. lol.
