OK, Have read the heck out of the threads! Thanks all for the info....but still have a few newbie questions because I travel a lot and am particular about things and also know what ruins a good vacation...so.. I like a specific type of beer and frankly anything not of that type I cant hack. What is the Pale Ale selection like at TTR? IPA would be a HUGE BONUS!! Last time in Mexico, I endured Foster's lager because that was all that was available. Sadly, I can not stomach most Mexican or most European/American mass produced beers. Yeah I know I am whining....and can drink wine if I need to. anyone that is hooked on the IPA's though will appreciate this question. Beer menu at TTR? Next one has caused complications a time on two on vacation...We are planning our June vacation now. My wife has a somewhat erratic cycle....What do you guy do if the Auntie comes to visit? This has messed with a vacation or two of ours in the past. Last question...How strict is the security with regard to sexual acts if you are on your balcony even if your balcony is on the first floor? Experience? (and I am talking about evening after the sun goes way down!
Beer options are kind of limited at TTR, the beer on tap and the beer they stock in your room (2 per day) is DOS EQUIS. It might be better if you are a premium member but I didn’t see it. There is a small store right across the street from TTR but you have to play some serious Frogger to get there. Your best bet is to take the bus down to Walmart and get what you want. I had some pretty bad heartburn from drinking the beer while I was there and I never get heartburn. Can’t help you on the second one, been there myself… As for balcony shows, there is a small sign on the far side of the pool that states basically “No public sex” and that they can kick you out of the resort for doing it. But it does happen and you might see some action if you take a walk around the resort at night, we had some friends with us in the hot tub on our first trip and you could see most everything even with the shade down because you backlit by the room not that we had any problem with that…J Good luck and have fun!
For beer, if you can't drink the resort stuff I'd agree the only option is to head into downtown and buy your own. I wouldn't recomment the wine. The white is ok, but the red house wine is awful! The stuff you have to pay for is 100% better but it is expensive. For the second thing, get your partner to go on the pill for 2 months prior to your trip. Putting it politely you can skip a 'visit' for 1 month by taking a new packet directly after finishing one. It's quite safe and offered as one of the advantages of taking the pill. If this isn't an option, then unfortunately you take the risk of it happening.
As stated your beer choices are limited. DOS EQUIS, DOS EQUIS, or DOS EQUIS. Best selection and prices are at Wal Mart. A short bus ride away. As for question number two I haven't had to deal with that problems for years. The incubation room was remodeled and now serves as a playroom. Question three is not something usually planned but a spontaneous occurrence that just happens to have an audience. You have to remember that a smaller audience is better for not drawing the attention of security. As long as you are not loud, drawing large crowds, or being obnoxious security will usually leave you alone. If they ask you to move inside just be polite and say thank you and move on. Remember that it can get you thrown out, BUT not likely. It depends on how you handle it.
Don't plan on going to any resort in Mexico to get premium beer. Like stated...Dos Equis is as good as it gets. You are on your own! From what I have read balcony shows are the closest you get. Anything else you are looking for trouble from security.
If you're a member you do get a slightly better beer (I can't think of the name), but it's no IPA. It's 6% alcohol and does have some flavor compared to dos equios which I'm not a big fan of. I tried doing a goggle search of mexican beers, but couldn't recall the name of the beer members get. The wine isn't very good either, so I would buy your own or go with mixed drinks.
rangehat: The XX beer last year is tap beer and it was way to highly carbonated... Painfully carbonated to the point of severe stomach swelling and discomfort. :banghead: Planning on drinking a good whiskey or good tequila this year........ I can't remember the members beer either but I drank with some members in the quiet pool and whenever their glass was empty someone magically showed up and filled their glass from a large bottle of beer. Reference the wife's monthly visitor I can feel for ya... Everytime we got on a plane apparently the vibrations of the jet engines started the wife up.....:banghead: doesn't work that way anymore however...got her re-plummed......:aktion033:
I work as a fine wine/beer rep and I love me some IPA's (I am definitely a beer geek-- uh, can you mail some Pliny to me in SC?? Please!!) But to be honest, last time we were there we ordered one bottle of wine the whole time. We just drink all sorts of crazy liquor and let it go at that -D
