Hello all! Hoping to be going to Temptation at the end of April next year with my husband. It’ll be our honeymoon (but we’ve been married 6 years lol). we want to PARTY and it appears that Temptation is just the place to do so. However we also want a bit of relaxation. Our plan was to spend a few days at Temptation then head to the Riu Palace for the R&R part of our vacay. that being said, it’s much cheaper to just stay at temptation full time. BUT, is it even possible to relax there? second, what in the world is a room crawl?! Asking at the risk of sounding completely ignorant. Third, is the play package worth it? I’ve heard tons and tons of mixed reviews and am super weird about hotels and cleanliness. So, is temptation clean? Anyone had bed bug issues? I’m ABSOLUTELY terrified of bringing them home, and usually spend abt an hour searching hotel rooms before bringing my belongings into the room. They honestly usually stay in the bathroom. lastly, is the food as bad as people say? Sometimes I feel like some of the people writing these reviews on travel sites are SO nit picky and can find anything and everything wrong. So I always take them with a grain of salt. thanks in advance all!!
Yes, you can hang out at the quiet pool a relax. Some people (but not many) spend the majority of their trip on that side. If you book a tower room or a Playful package with sky 3.5 access, you can also relax at the rooftop pool in the afternoons
There’s a lot of people on the forum that have stayed many more times than us but I’ll give my two cents. This will be our 5th time back to stay in 4 years. Is it a perfect resort? No, but is there such a thing? Everyone is different. We never used the quiet pool area till our last trip, it works great to get away from the very active areas and get the down time u need. I have never seen bed bugs there. The rooms at times could be cleaner but again life is not perfect and this is our 5th time back. We are not food experts but we do love to eat. Some restaurants will be more to your liking whereas others will not. We stick with what we like as there is a great variety. We don’t buy the upgrade package and this last trip we stayed in the plush jacuzzi room, it doesn’t have the perks that the tower rooms do but we liked it just as well. However at this point we split our trip with Desire as it’s more laid back, couples only and more to our liking. However we do still love our stay at TTR and the highlight is we can catch the Boobs Cruise right on site and stumble back to pool at the end of the day. Just my thoughts. Hope it helps
No worries. Just go and experience it. It is addictive. It used to be better, but everything changes.
Yes it is possible to relax there. We will split trips with Desire and go to Temptation the last few days and find it more relaxing. The party tends to shut down earlier at Temptation than Desire and we definitely get more sleep at Temptation. There are plenty of places to relax there, including the beach, quiet pool, or sky bar pool/bar. My guess is that you will not want to leave Temptation and go to Riu after having your eyes opened to what a Temptation/Desire vacay can be all about. Room crawl...just friends/strangers/etc going from room to room for silly games or drinks. Usually there is a theme. The hotel is clean and have never seen a bed bug and have spent 50+ nights there over the past five years. We have always stayed in the Tower. The food isn't bad, it's average Mexico resort food. Don't order a steak in Mexico if you are a meat critic. The food there might not as good, and the selection may be more limited if you are not a member, as Riu if you have been there before. We don't go there for the food anyway, get our macros in and stay hydrated. Package is not worth it.
I wouldn't advise staying in Temptation then transferring to Riu, unless there's something specific you like about Riu. You can relax just fine at Temptation. As many have said, there is a quiet area that is quite lovely. The beach is also nice and relaxing; my husband loves taking naps on the beach beds, to the sounds of the ocean waves. We are not food snobs, and we think the food is great. We usually dine at the buffet, but the individual restaurants are nice, too. We hate waiting for food/service, so that's why we lean more towards buffet dining. We once dined at She, and while it was nice experience (belly dancers), the dinner took almost 3 hours and we missed the entertainment that night, which was really disappointing. I can't speak for the packages as we have never booked any. I think you can have a great, romantic, fun, sexy and relaxing time just playing by ear.
The Asian restaurant and the Italian restaurant are very good to great. The sushi at the Asian is as good as you will find most anywhere.
