Hey Y'all, Newbie to Temptations here that will be arriving in a few days. We're super excited for this trip and have been counting down the days til our arrival. I've travelled pretty extensively through Mexico and Central America, but I've noticed two things that kind of stick out in TTR reviews that I'm not certain on. First, travelling from the airport, Usually, when I arrive in Mexico I walk past all of the people waiting to sell you transport or timeshare and find a taxi that can take me where I'm going. I've read where people say this is difficult in Cancun and that we should book a shuttle. Why? and also how can I do that from home? who's reputable to use? Second, What's the deal with the timeshare pitch? I've read reviews where people say its long and horrible. I've read other reviews where people didn't get pitched, and I just read one review where the poster said the timeshare people called her room phone. We neither have the money or the Desire to buy one. What's the best advice for getting around that? Anyway, a few small concerns before we leave. Any input at all is appreciated
Use USA travel. There is a link on here somewhere. They are great we have used them many times. Prompt professional and reasonable.
Yes. A lot of the people that go to TTR use USA Transfer! You can book it thru the home page of Cancuncare! It's $55 RT pp. It's alittle more money but they take you directly to TTR. No other stops
You will get a WIDE range of opinion of the timeshare experience! MY opinion is that it's not worth it if your not interested. I have done it 3 time and every time it took about 2/3 hours. It's a VERY hard sell. They do not take no for an answer. Yes. I have many friends who have bought in so they will try to sell you a referral . You can get a good price from them but you need to go to the presentation in order for them to get the $250. My suggestion is give them the $250 and skip the talk..AGAIN MY opinion!!! The Welcome tour they offer when you arrive is the set up for the talk! Yes. They will call and leave notes on your door!
We just got back and did the premier pitch. Just dont say much and no thank you. Saying anything else will get them start writing funny numbers on paper. The patch is completely incomprehensible, just set a timer for 2 hours and check your watch frequently to signal not interested. We also used USA Transfer and they were great and on time. We missed our first flight from Seattle and a 20 second phone call our pick up was rearranged.
I just did it, and they simply do not give you enough information to realize its value if there is one. When I mentioned RCI they acted like they saw a ghost. Then told me there is no RCI anymore and its world pass now. The only thing I can remember is the $69,800 which is a 25 year plan that if you utilize it completely its total worth is 250,000. The only problem is that you can toss that into any growth mutual fund and after 25 years you'll have more than 300,000. But I was on vacation and I wasn't trying to sit there and crunch numbers. They will not allow you to leave with anything. The whole process earned zero trust with me
I think the answer you are looking for is the timeshare presentation is NOT required if you are just a regular visitor. Just tell them no thanks. You have no interest in the presentation for financial reasons and no interest in the tour (which leads to the sell). Do not agree to meet with them at all and they will leave you alone. Some of the responses above are in reference to if you book thru a member on a referral. But if you book a regular room with no referral then you can easily avoid.
Att check in a nice gut sat down with us. We just gave a polite friendly but firm no thanks not another word was said. For the first day I was walking around waiting to get hit by a blow dart gun from behind a fern or something, but we never got a phone call or anything.
