Second trip coming up in less than two weeks, came in January and loved it so much we're back for my (Andrew) b'day celebration. Going to be on the April 23rd Boobs Cruise, our first. I have a newbie question. I know the point of the cruise isn't the snorkeling but I believe there is a stop to do that and I was wondering if it's worth bringing our own gear. We always make space for it but the last 2 beach trips we've not used it, for some reason the sexy pool was more interesting than the beach in Jan. Anyway, is it worth bringing or is it just something else to lose in a drunken stupor? Also want to thank the many regular posters here, I've been lurking for a few weeks and the information is great and the sense of community is fantastic. I "know" several people who'll be there the same time as us (April 22-29) and it seems like it'll be an awesome trip already.
Hey Ali and Andrew. I'll be on the April 23 cruise with you. The snorkeling is done off the boat for about a half hour. I've never done it, so I don't know how good it is. About 1/2 of people on the boat go snorkeling...the rest of us keep drinking. The current is quite strong so you need to be a good swimmer (which you two probably are given that you have your own gear). Personally, I wouldn't us up precious space in my suitcase with snorkeling gear, and I wouldn't want to have to try to keep track of it on the boat and remember to take it home with me. Newbies tend to get pretty messed up on the cruises. Heck, everyone tends to get pretty messed up on the cruises!
I did the snorkeling on our cruise last year. I seemed like we were in the water about 20 to 30 minutes. IMO it's definitely NOT worth bringing you own gear, that is just more stuff you have to try and keep track of on the boat, and by the afternoon, who knows where it may be. If I recall (it did get a "bit" hazy) we had a hard enough time keeping up with hats, sunglasses and swimsuits. :lotsofmichaelfs: Tom
I agree.. while useing your own stuff does have a LOT of benefits, keeping track of it while doing bodyshots, drunk dancing and basically trying not to fall overboard while partying your butt off, and then remembering to pick it up as you leave the boat at the end of the day (when making sure you have all your clothes on is a bigger priority) overshadows those benefits. The snorkeling is good and fun but not the highlight of the day. Jamie
We love to snorkel, but, after being on the cruise several times feel it is not worth getting in the water. We do not take our gear anymore. As was stated above the current is fairly strong and not a big variety of fish. Much better places to go if you want to snorkel.
I'm just wondering about the snorkeling, some years ago it was set up so that the current did most of the work for you. Last time I have to admit the swimming wiped me out. Is there a reason anyone knows of that it isn't the same setup that it used to be?
