Ok, this is not about TTR and Cancun but we're close followers of cancuncare, been to TTR many times and respect stories and opinions of other cancuncare followers. We're heading to New York City in October, never been and really need some advise. We're not filthy rich (ok, not rich at all) and we're looking for accomodations. We have our airfare already taken care of. Of course, we want to be close or at least have easy access to the common tourist areas and attractions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I am originally a New Jersey guy but here are my .02 cents. I took Judy (California girl) for a birthday weekend a few years ago. She claims that running into the city is not the same as being in the city. So, I took her for the weekend and it was as good for me as it was her. Book a hotel in mid-town if possible. Hotel Pennsylvania is old but great location and at one time was the largest in NYC. It is okay and the price is good. October should be cool enough to walk around so take a stroll either there or back. From mid town you can take a subway uptown and go to a museum or Central Park and walk back. Or visa versa. Go down to battery park and wall street, jump a ferry to the statue of liberty. Walk back and get pizza in SoHo. For a play get tickets at TKTS in times square. they are not first run shows but have been playing foor awhile and you save a bunch. I hope this helps. Any time in the city is fantastic.
