Anyone have any more insight on this new tourism tax QR is starting in April? Quintana Roo’s New Tourism Tax Goes Into Effect April 1
What additional information are you looking for? I thought the article was pretty clear, $11 per person payable several ways; at booking, arrival, airport or online the website. Seems pretty reasonable especially since COVID killed tourism in Mexico in 2020.
These kinds of taxes are unfortunately rather common in Latin America. They always start out as something stupid and complicated like this, which makes for incredible confusion at the airport when it's an Entry or 'Exit Tax', and then they later have them implemented automatically in the airfare/hotel booking. In the Dominican Republic, upon arrival one has to stand in line, pay someone some money for a piece of paper, and then hand that paper to someone else. So efficient.. If they require tourists to pay at the airport, expect long lines.
