Hey all, my wife and I are considering a southern vacation and really have no clue where to start or what to expect. We're completely new to all of this so bare with me and my stupid questions. We're thinking Temptation or Desire, neither of us have done the tropical vacation/resort vacation thing before so it's all new to us. We're thinking we would like to do an adult only resort where we can spend a few kidless days in a sexy, relaxing environment. Wife says she doesn't know if she'll be comfortable going topless/nude but from what I've read the atmosphere helps bring most out of the shell. We're not big "party" people, not big club goers, more of relaxed sit around and have a few drinks kind of people. Though I'm sure we would probably check things out just for curiosity sake. . If nothing else making new friends and being around the atmosphere should make for a fun sexy trip, even if we stay to ourselves. Reading about the differences in the resorts, seems single guys at Temptation could be a bit of a headache, and while I know you can deal with some even with couples, how much of an issue would that be? I just don't want my wife to have a bad experience. Not being club/bar goers, will we still enjoy the atmosphere and get a good trip out of it? Also money is a factor, we don't have a set budget but always looking to save some money, is a 3 night trip enough to really get away? How many nights would you say is a bare minimum for a resort stay? Thanks!
It was our first resort as well, not really club goers either. We really enjoy the sexy party atmosphere, not something we can do at home. The key thing for us is how open and accepting people are. Don’t feel like participating in themes, no problem. Want to keep your top on/off, whatever. Want to chill at the quiet pool, neat. Lots of people just seem to be looking for that break from their daily lives, and it’s a good opportunity to do just that. Lots of opportunities to enjoy your trip in different ways. We enjoy just watching some of the fun as well. We always meet couples like ourselves. We’ve been to Temptation 4 times now, and we’ve never had an issue with single guys. The larger groups of guys can be a bit rowdy, but I suspect you’d find that at any non-couples only resorts. Most groups keep to themselves a bit, so it’s not hard to set yourself up on the other side of the pool or club. For us the distance/cost to get there means we want to spend at least 5-7 nights. If we were closer a shorter trip may be worth while. Being your first time it’s great your reaching out here. So many people will give you tips and tricks for the resort.
Thanks for the response, definitely appreciate it. Lots involved in making sure we pick the right spot for the costs involved. Have you been to Desire? I'm curious how the 2 compare atmosphere wise. It seems like Temptation is cheaper from a couple quick run through's I've done on their sites but if we would enjoy Desire more than I'm ok with it being a little pricier. Also curious on pricing, how do most go through the process of booking? Just straight from the websites, travel agent, etc? Wondering if a travel agent might be the best option where we've never done it before and want to make sure we're not forgetting something important like airport transport or something.
Just my two cents which aren’t worth much but the crowd seems a bit older at Desire which is great for us as we are early 50’s and still in the middle of raising kids and at this point in our life we prefer Desire over TTR (just our preference). We started at TTR and loved it, had a blast while we stayed, still go back at least once a year. If you all have never been to an adults only, I would probably start at TTR as you won’t see men and women walking around completely naked there like you will at Desire. Start slow and ease in to it kinda thing, especially if the wife is unsure she even wants to take top off. At Desire you will still see people fully clothed but there are always those that stay naked their whole trip seems like. Lol. Don’t know how old you all are but TTR is great for any age and you will have a blast. Like I said just my humble opinion.
We have not been to Desire. Partially cost and partially availability, we book late and it’s often full (it’s a smaller resort). I’ve heard very positive things. There are a few reviews on the site about the atmosphere. We’re indifferent on the full nudity, and Lifestyle aspects so we’ve been happy with Temptation Resort. We usually book directly through the resort, used Expedia in the past. We had a very bad experience with Expedia on a family trip, so we’ve moved away from them. (Never book any Disney through Expedia…) The prices are roughly the same for the hotel. Really for a short trip it’s flights, hotels and transfers. For transfers to either resort go with USA Transfers, there is a link on this webpage. They’re great.
Awesome thanks. We're late 30's, though I joke about being an old man, was never the typical "youthful" kid. We don't have an issue with topless/full nudity, and while we're not currently in the lifestyle I think if the right situation were to present itself, you never know. We're interested in it and no qualms at all about it or the people who partake. We live in a small town in the middle of no where, where everyone knows everyone else's business so I think in a resort setting, that far away and with the right atmosphere we would probably both be more comfortable with seeing/partaking in the full nudity and maybe even experience a bit of the lifestyle. Reading reviews about the 2 I get conflicting opinions on Temptation, some make it sound like adult spring break with just one big, massive party environment, where Desire has more relaxed sounding reviews. That's the only reason I'm wondering if Desire would be more our style. Based on what I'm reading here though, sounds like Temptation would be a great first trip though, thanks for the responses. Any other tips for a first trip we should take into account? Are there better times of the year to visit, both price wise and overall enjoyment wise?
Btw not everyone is in the lifestyle at Desire. Some of us are vanilla (we are maybe vanilla with a swirl lol). Everyone is in their own journey somewhere having fun along the way.
I do think Temptation would be a great place to start. It’s a lot of fun. Temptation does have the opportunity to be spring break for adults, it also has lots of great opportunities to chill. If you want a break or are not interested it can be a lot of fun to sit at either end of the pool and watch the games and other shenanigans, or go chill at the quiet pool (where drink service is usually faster…) I see your flying out of Canada, remember it takes us longer to get there particularly if you have to make a connection. Last time we arrived at 5:30pm, and opted to stay off resort. The Travel time really cuts into your days at the resort. Toronto does have a 6:00am direct flight on WestJet that gets you there at noon. You’ll need some tip money. Lots of opinions on how to tip. Just plan ahead to get small bills in USD or MEX. Avoid the timeshare ‘tour’. Not worth it… The resort isn’t that big.
Few thoughts...for your concerns you asked about. Both resorts are great, but here is some honest feedback for your questions. Days... Consider at least five nights. Our minimum is ten so we can lose track of time and relax. We also come from a small community and it takes a couple connections to get to Cancun. If you are going to spring for the airfare, might as well get a couple more days out of it. Hint...Book the latest flight back home at the end of the trip so there is no packing the night before or having to get up early. Sleep/Party... We actually relax more at Temptation than Desire. The party at Desire, for what we like, goes much later and there is more participation. At TTR we get to sleep around 2-3 am. At Desire, I'd say around 4-5 am. TTR is large enough to get away from the party if so inclined, score sports bar, sky bar, quiet pool. Booking.. If TTR, then find the best internet deal (even a fly-by-night that you would never book on) and have the resort match. If Desire, book here, through Cancuncare and Steve will get your a free, upgraded luxury transportation to and from the airport. Make sure to use a coupon code. Desire does not price match like TTR. Look into a referral maybe and get member pricing (TTR maybe about $270 a night and Desire $425 ish a night) Single guys... Most are really great but ... we have had some (couple times, and not every trip) issues with single guys/bachelor parties at TTR.
Can’t like this enough. Might save a few dollars on that 7am flight… but your going to ruin the day before.
