I'm planning (and failing at planning) a spring break cancun trip for 2012. I always do my research before going on vacation, and I am such a TripAdvisor review whore. Finding a good hotel in the Riviera Maya was cake and pie, but Cancun is proving to be difficult.

Many of these hotels have general neutral reviews (a lot good and a lot bad). I REALLY wanna be close ot the hotel zone in walking distance of the bars, but the Riu properties have crappy beaches, which is a turn off, but I also want to stay away from loads of families.

Is Krystal Cancun REALLY that bad of a property? Can't beat the price, and I've read it has a nice beach. I've also heard Gran Caribe, but I have a feeling families are going to be hoarding places like that. I just want to drink, chill out on a nice beach, and be within walking distance of the clubs.

A good place for meeting other SB'ers would also be nice :)

Thanks for any advice anyone has !

Read the boards you will answer alot of the questions yourself.

Give us more of a background about yourself so people here can better determine your hotel.

I think Krystal has 2 towers, the old tower and the new tower. That probably has something to do with the mixed reviews.

The new towers = really nice
Old towers = step above oasis

Krystal in years past has been the party crowd that didnt wanna stay at the oasis and wanted to walk to the clubs.

They have some rules that make it a semi family hotel.

Gran Caribe puts most of the SB activities on the beach...away from the families. LOVE that place!!!

Dude. Krystal Cancun will be off the CHAIN this year. I went to Oasis for the past two years. First year was a massive party. Went back in February of 2011 looking for the same thing and it was absolutely deserted. The entire spring break crowd had moved down to Krystal. We took a taxi down and snuck on to the beach and the party that was going on there was insane. What dates are you looking to go? We're headed to Krystal Cancun the same time that Breakaway tours is, February 17th-27th, 2012.

Another thing that is wikkid about Krystal how close it is to the bars. Going from Oasis this year, it took up to 45 minutes by shuttle because the traffic was so congested. You can walk out the front door of Krystal and you're already downtown. A quick stumble back to the hotel to get your freak on and there you have it. Can't freakin wait!
