I was playing around with my new signature and decided to check out one of the links I use. It's to a company called Hotels Combined, they are a bit like SkyScanner in that they search lots of top travel agents for your chosen hotel and dates and then display the cheapest price. So, I punched in Oct 1st for 7 days and the price came back as 24,876 Pesos (because I'm in Mexico). With the current exchange of 20.27 Pesos to the US Dollar this works out at $1227 for 7 nights or $175 per night! Pretty sure you wont find those dates cheaper than that anywhere. Obviously other dates may not be so cheap but it is worth checking out. The link is in my signature for future reference but below it is 'bigly': Click Here to Check Out Rates Let me know how it looks for your dates
For 6 nights in December (Dec 27 to Jan 2) HotelsCombined:$515/night Orbitz:$815/night Travelocity: $815/night Hotwire: no results Expedia: sold out Alpharooms: $499/night all prices in USD$ and based on double occupancy.
Nice one @Cheers2US. Yeah, best to browse as many options as you can and choose the best for your needs. Whether that be price, benefits, flight included etc. Other dates might work a different way round on price. The dates you're looking at (New Year) are going to be quite a bit more expensive than other times, but it's certainly useful to see the comparisons.
Those prices are above our usual range. We usually can't spend more than $300 USD per night but we had never looked into those dates (New Year's Eve) before. We've typically gone the week before Christmas, which was always fun and pretty busy. It's just a challenge because our kids are still in school that week. Of course, they're not in school over Christmas-New Year's, but that's when the price shoots up *sigh*
That's weird , because I always check multiple sites, and Orbitz always comes up the cheapest for us.
We've used www.cheapcaribbean.com every time we've booked and it's very convenient with prices similar to referral rates. You can book flights as well as transportation to and from the hotel and any excursions you want to do with your package. Prices seem to fluctuate, so you can check back over multiple days and wait for the lowest price to pop up. The only issue we had was last trip our flights were changed a couple times well before our departure date, but it's wasn't a big change or a huge inconvenience. We didn't book any excursions until we got the hotel, so I don't know how that really works. Also, there is optional trip insurance just in case that's something you want. If it weren't for this website advertising Temptations, we never would have found this hidden gem of a resort!
I just did it for our October dates of 10/28 to 11/02 and it came back with $1,204 for 5 nights, which is a per day rate of $240.8 for Stacia & I. Our PM rate right now on my reservation is $192/night. As per usual, what I think is going on, is that Americans pay WAY more for travel than other people in other countries. For Example, our friends Graham & Diane who live near Nottingham, England the first time we went to then-BBG now-TTR in 2007 sspent less for a 2-week vacation at BBG than Stacia & I did for 5 nights --- that is with flights included, y'all. I paid ~$1300 USD for a 5 night stay with flights, Graham paid the equivalent of ~$1250 USD in his English pounds for a 14-night stay with flights from a place.... ahh... slightly farther afield you might say.
