When I was in Minnesota in August I changed to AT&T's brand new "Viva Mexico" calling plan for my US cell phone, and so far it's working out great and saving me money so thought I'd share the info with those of you who have both a US and Cancun cell phone or just make a lot of calls between the US and Mexico. The plan is $55 USD/month and there is NO roaming and NO long distance/international charges between the US and Mexico. It includes 450 "anytime" minutes with rollover, and 1000 "night+weekend" minutes. Mobile to mobile minutes while in the US are unlimited. In effect, I can call from the US to Mexico, from Mexico to the US, and to any Mexican phone (cell or landline) while here in Mexico with no long distance or roaming charges. I've been using my US phone not only to make/receive call to/from the US, but also to make most of my calls here in Cancun. I have my Cancun cell to receive calls so that it's a local call for Cancun friends to call me. But have found that I really don't need to have much credit on my Cancun amigo-plan cell because I'm pretty much only receiving calls on it, not making them. I keep some credit on it to send text messages. So it's like I'm getting both a US and Mexico phone for the price of one. So far, I love it.
