Just received an email from Orignal Resorts about their new resort- Desire Pearl. Pulled up the web site for Ceiba de Mar to see what the resort looked like. It looks like a great place, especially the pool and spa. We are looking forward to seeing what the rates will be. Hope that the rates will be about the same as they are at Cabo. If they are about the same we may just have to take a trip to check it out. Will have to check with my buddy( the travel agent) and see what he has to say about it. Since it is still operationing as Ceiba de Mar they don't have any rates posted for the new Desire yet. But it will be interesting to see what they decide to charge per night.:lotsofmichaelfs:
If you read the blatant clues(lol) in the Original Resorts Press Release .......this five-star hotel complex, located on a beautiful beach of Puerto Morelos, will be named Desire Pearl Resort & Spa..... .......will be enhanced even for the most demanding guest......... ......in addition to a tennis court, holistic spa, and pier with docking facilities, among other luxurious amenities. ...... Rates for this property will probably be even more than the current rates for Desire Riviera Maya - I think the only Desire property that will have rates on the lower end of the Desire pricing scale will be the Los Cabos location.
Ceiba de Mar,,, rates from 418 per night Its nice to have 5 * resorts but us common folk like to have fun too without mortgaging the house.
Thats is what we are afraid off; the high per night rate. Dream Pleasure Vacations show a takeover the end of july and they are listing a rate of $548 per night. At a rate like that we will keep going to Cabo. They say location,location,location makes it worth it,maybe but not for low middle folks class folks like us.
I had a tour round Ceiba del Mar a month or so ago. It's a nice resort but small, with only 88 rooms. At the time there were 3 options for new ownership, of which one was Original resorts would be buying/leasing it. That option seems to have been the winner. My info sources are different from CokewithLime's. But I've heard that it will be priced at a point between TTR and Desire. We'll see what really happens in due course. We already have a forum over at: Cancun Swingers Lifestyle Couples Forum that discusses Ceiba del Mar (some pics of the resort there too) and this will be changed to discuss Desire Pearl in due course.
Our agent just got back to us and sand that right now the proposed rate for the new Desire Pearl will be $590 per night for a std room. Thats twice Cabos rate and about $200 more than Desire Cancun per night. We love Cabo and the staff there so it looks like we will keep going there. After looking at the pictures of the resort we thought that we might try it, but since we haven't won the lottery yet it will be going back to our favorite Desire Cabo.
The way we see it its not where you are but who your with,People make any trip fun not the resort...As long as there is Sun,Fun and a pool we are happy
