A quick question about vaccines...I was told that when travelling to Mexico we might consider getting the Malaria and Typhoid vaccine. Do you know if TTR fogs for mosquitoes? Told most resorts do and the risk is slim then for malaria. Told to worry more about Typhoid if eating at some ones house or wild game. But, we plan on only eating at the resort. Should we get these vaccines before going to TTR?
In my humble (Biomedical Scientist) opinion; There isn't a malaria vaccine, only tablets to take, however tourist Mexico is not a high risk malaria area. And, well it's up to you, but I would recommend Typhoid vaccination, Typhoid is a type of Salmonella, and can be caught in the same way, through contaminated food or water. Hope that helps! Oh and get Hepatitis A shots too!
Hepatitis is a bigger worry IMO, and I still have not goten the shots and have been to Mexico 10 times.
Thanks for your input. Yes, I agree with the Hepatitis vaccine....already done. Now, I think I'll check into the others...better to be safe than sorry.
I travelled to Mexico in June and both me and my wife had the Typhoid, Malaria And Hepatitus vaccine before we went. Better to be safe than sorry is how i look at it
You only really need to take precautions for Malaria if you intend to go way off the beaten track. Canun and espcially Hotel Zone will be fine. Typhoid and Hepatitis are generally recommended (by UK Doctors at least)
We've been there over 30 times and never had any shots. Just my opinion, but if your only planning on being at the resort I don't see any need for them.
