Mine has started failing and I need to buy a new one as soon as possible, today if I can.

Does anyone know anywhere that will sell them downtown?.

For the record its a Dell WD hard drive but not fussed about the brand of the hard drive, just need one as use my laptop for work.

Old hard drive is just about backed up and keeps giving me fatal errors.

Office Depot should have one. Thats where i bought mine. But thats also 2 years ago. Its Important to know if its a SATA or IDE Harddrive...

A good Workaround is also to take a look at the External Harddrives they sell. Write the Models on a Paper and look at the Internet if its a Sata/IDE Drive inside... If it fits: Just disassemble the external Drive an put the HD in your Laptop.

What a great idea, I didn't think of that, mines Sata. did you manage to buy a hard drive alone or did you have to buy a usb one and disassemble it?

my only issue is I have a WD usb drive and the gits at WD adapt the sata to there own style that can only be used in WD cases.

I'm hoping Samsun don't do the same as seen a fair deal in Walmart on one.

I just brought a Samsung and it has the same thing, never mind there usb hard drives are always usfull to have and I can use it for backing up whats left of the laptop drive. It seems that alot of them are doing it now to save even more space and make there product smaller.

Intech Computación Cancun | Diseño de paginas web | Reparacion de Computadoras stock internal drives but are not open till Monday so may just have to wait.

Cheers for the help so far :)

i would recommend avoiding disassembling since it voids the warranty, why not check out Sam's & Costco for an external one since they sometimes have very good deals. I got a 500 gb external from simpletech called the redrive that uses bamboo side panels for around 600 pesos (Sams)... i also have a 250GB portable seagate Agent that i got for 800pesos (costco).

These 2 stores are loads cheaper than Office Depot & Max that sell old stock at the same price as recently released products.
