This will be our first trip to Cancun and were looking to split our time between two resorts. We'll be staying 6 nights at Temptations and we are very excited to enjoy all that the resort has to offer. But we looking for suggestions on where else to stay. We originally booked GOV but decided to change due to the resort changing. Then we booked Golden Parnassus but now we're seeing BAD trip adviser reviews with lots of talk of theft. So now were second guessing staying at GP.

Were looking for a adult only resort to start our vacation at. A place were we can relax, enjoy the scenery, walk the beach, play in the pools/hot tub, drink at a swim-up bar etc. Were not big foodies so elegant sit down dinners are not important, a nice bar that we can eat at is perfect. Nightlife in the area is a big plus. Were just looking for a nice safe resort that we can start our vacation at before we join the party at Temptations. Those that have been to Golden Parnassus recently can you give us your thoughts? Any alternative resorts you would recommend?

We'll see everyone at Temptations 7/30-8/5.

We split our trip between Temptation and Privilege Aluxes on Isla Mujeres. It's a wonderful adults only resort; more of a spa-like atmosphere. You can go all inclusive (about $60 more/nt) or not. Lots of great food on Isla, we mainly use the all inclusive just for drinks and service on the beach. Going back this September for the 2nd time before we head over to TTR, we HIGHLY recommend them!

Welcome to the board! I love Cancun/Isla Mejures and Riviera Maya...but if night life is important to you I think staying by the hotel zone is your best bet.

Hubby and I stayed at Secrets Maroma Beach but it's in RM. It's gorgeous - Has hot tubs situated around the resort, 24 hour room service (that DOESN"T COST extra which is huge for us at 4am!) and it has a discoteca which stayed open till I think 2 every night. Adults only, and very lovely/luxurious but not cheap. The vibe is entirely different from TTR but you will still find young couples and people doing shots, playing pool games, etc. We had a great time there and met peole we still keep in contact with but it's just a diff kind of 'great time'. We would go back there in a heartbeat, but $ could be a factor.

I've also stayed at Excellence Riviera and El Dorado Royale, those are nice but also not in the hotel zone.

If food and luxury is less important to you than night life OFF resort, maybe one of the Riu Resorts would work for you? I think a lot of the nicer all inclusives are not in the hotel zone, personally.

Hey guys! We will be at TTR Aug. 2-9. This will be our 3rd time back. It's such a blast! We are thinking about a 10 day trip next year and splitting the days between TTR and Desire. We have never been to Desire but it gets great reviews! Hope to meet guys in August!:bootyshake::daveandmo: Keep an eye out for the Boob Cruise dates!!

The Golden Parnassus is not bad. Its a moderate Adult resort. We have stayed at just about all the Adult resorts over the years. I would not get to excited about reports of thief. That can happen at ANY resort if you are not being smart about watching your stuff. It has even happened at TTR. The Golden Parn.is popular because its pretty close to the main zone and you can walk to a lot of things. If you want to go the luxury route places like Excellence, and the El Dorados are awesome... ( but they are not in the hotel zone) . If you ever get a chance to stay at one of the luxury resorts you should. Sometimes its nice to be pampered. TTR is sorta in class by itself...we go every year when we want to act like immature idiots and blow off some steam...haha. It all depends on what you are looking for at a given time.

Well... until you said you wanted some nightlife, by which I assume you mean, night-clubs, I'd suggest going to Desire, really. Totally different "feel" from TTR, but way cool. Naked is cool, but the party vibe at night is nifty-sexy.

And, there is the Hard Rock, I guess. Easy to get from there to the Club zone.

Thanks for all the suggestions. To clarify what we meant by nightlife is the ability To dress up and find a spot for music/drinks. Not necessarily wall to wall packed clubs. Basically we don't want a resort that shuts down at 10pm.

We've decided to start our cancun trip by going to Golden Parnassus 7/24-7/29 then transfering over to Temptations 7/29-8/4. Looking very forward to the trip! It was only 50 up here in Michigan last night!
