We are headed downwith three other couples and we need some info 1. What is the dress code and how strict is it? 2. What area of the resort has the best rooms, any certain floors? 3. Anything we should bring with us regarding drinks? 4. What about water, we tend to drink alot to prevent dehyration with all the alcohol? 5. I thought I saw that there was no coffee in the rooms, is this true? 6. Can I get Bailey's delivered to my room for my morning coffee? 7. Is it neccessary to reserve a chair so early in teh morning? 8. Any info about the restaurants, best ones, reservations needed? Thanks for all your help, can't wait to go!!!
Dress code at the specialty restaurants is.... Long pants for men and no open toed shoes... A nice shirt is good, no tee shirts. For women, dress nice and sexy is always good. We have stayed 2 times both times on the bottom floor. Once by the quite pool and once by the activities pool both were good., although by the activities pool is louder. As for drinks... Bring your own mug or cup as the cups they give you at the bars are small. We brought some insulated cups we got on a cruise we took and they were perfect. They had sip lids on them and kept the drinks cold longer. You can also bring your own bottle of alcohol with you and give it to the bar tender to hold for you behind the bar. That's if their is something specific you want that they don't offer. As for water..... They say its OK to drink as the resort has its own filtration system but i wouldn't risk to much of it. We had a full gallon of water in our room every morning when the room was made up. We used it for tea... We did brush our teeth with the tap water and had no problem. We also drank water at dinner every night and had no problem their either. Their are stores near by if you want to by bottled water. I got dehydrated the 1st trip on the last day and ended up going from Oakland Ca. airport to the emergency room... DRINK WATER As for coffee im not sure as we dont drink it.... I really never noticed. We saw people reserving chair all hours of the night. One night i went out at 3am and half the chairs up against the activities pool were taken already. We got to a point were we would take our towels and rap them around 2 chair together and put our shoes or something on the to save them at around 3-4am. Of course we were just going to bed at that time...... We were lucky enough to get chairs a couple times in the morning but they were away from the activities pool. Work something out with your friends and take turns saving chairs for each other... You will figure it out pretty quick! ALL the specialty restaurants are good. You can make reservations in the mornings at 9am i think for the whole week you are their. You do need reservations..... Their were times when people don't show up for dinner they reserve but they still won't let you in. I can't figure that out, i guess they would rather have empty tables.... A LITTLE TIPPING GOES A LONG WAY...... The people work hard here for you so don't be shy about taking care of the ones that take care of you......... Have fun and meet everyone their....... Many new friend for life are found here as we found out.... We will be back in Feb. 2010 with the ones we met in Feb. 2009...... HAVE FUN
1. Dress code for pool and beach: AS LITTLE as POSSIBLE! :flash:  For walking to and from the pool you need a cover-up if you plan to not wear a swim suit top there... For the breakfast and lunch (and the buffet for dinner...) mostly they want no "wet swimwear" worn. Women need to have something over their suit if it is dry and if a man is to wear swim trunks and they are dry usually you can just wear a t-shirt with that. For the specialty restaurants the rule is no sandals (I wore flip flops but they were more strict with the men about open toed shoes), No tanks (again I think this is more directed at the men as I wore a "dressier" tank for dinner one night along with "dressier" shorts...they may have thought it was a skirt?), and no shorts (even dockers shorts for men and this was STRICT...my guy had worn dockers and a button down shirt and was refused while a guy in jeans, tshirt and tennies was eating!!! my big frickin piss off...still a year later! LOL!) So men bring pants and closed toed shoes if you want a nicer dinner. 2. Of the two times we went we were on the third floor both times. Once by the quiet pool and another time by the sexy pool but in a further back building. Both rooms were equally quiet for us but the view for the one by the quiet pool was better. We went that time before they remodeled and the new decor is nicer but all rooms are updated so that isnt an issue. 3. We didnt bring a mug but many people like to. I find even insulated the drinks get watered down in the heat too much if they are too big and often we sat at the swim up bar and our drinks were NEVER NEVER empty. We didnt even have to ask. We tipped well and we had to ask even less. If you like something specific you can bring that and they will keep it behind the bar and pour it for you (I believe you tip for this...we never did it cause we didnt really mind the house brands). 4. From what I have heard Cancun itself has purified water and also each hotel does too so therefore it should be safe. And while we were there last year there was water delievered to the room daily if the one in the room is opened and even used a little so you have that too. We used tap to brush our teeth and drank water when it was served with meals without trouble...remember the water is used to make the ice cubes in the frozen and mixed drinks. So no matter what you are gonna be drinking some of the water. I didnt have a problem at all with the water. Wouldnt hesitate to drink it again. But you can always buy more bottled at the store too. Or ask housekeeping for more maybe? 5&6. I dont drink coffee so I am not 100% sure on this. I thought there was a coffee maker in the room. You can get continental breakfast served to the room and you could ask for coffee on that. I would say it cant hurt to ask for the Bailies too but I wouldnt count on it. You could always buy a bottle at Walmart or across the street and keep it in your room. 7. I think it depends on how busy it is at the resort and where you would prefer to be. I never got up at an ungodly hour or saved the night before but we did save on our way to breakfast usually. We only got at the edge of the pool when the resort was slower. Otherwise we got a bit further back. Not a huge problem for us but then we were only 2 couples together. A larger group that wants to be together might be harder. 8. I didnt get a chance to eat at the Asian (the night my guy was wearing Dockers...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr) but we told our friends to go ahead and they LOVED it. The other restaurants were sooooo YUMMY! Try them all if possible. I personally would KILL for the bacon wrapped shrimp at the Italian right now! TO DIE FOR! You need reservations for the specialty places but you can eat at the dinner buffet if you want without them. When I went last year they made you make the ressies daily but it soundsl like they have improved that system!!! YEAH!
