The Wife and I are planing a trip to Cancun in august. We have no idea on what to look for, or where to stay. We have kids, but we leaving them home. So, we want to go somewhere where there are no kids. We are in our late twenties, and would like a "fun" atmosphere. We are looking for a middle of the road kinda place. Not overly expensive and not a cheap, crappy place. We have never been to cancun before, so we think we should start in the middle, see what we like and dont like. We are not too concerened about the rooms, as we plan on spending our time outdoors. What we do want is a good beach, and a GREAT pool. Fun entertainment would be nice, expecially at night. That way we wouldnt have to worry about leaving the resort. Any help would be appriciated!!! THANKS
Sounds like Temptations is the place for you. Check out the Temptations forums here and you can get all your questions answered.
Temptations is a very fun "adult oriented" hotel. Their beach is not that great and the pool is only great because of the fun people there. Read up more on the Temptations pages on this forum to see if it might be for you. You may want to rank your desires for what you want in a hotel in specific order. 1 - Beach 2 - All Inclusive 3 - Nice big pool 4 - Night life etc...etc...etc And be as detailed as you like. There are well over a hundred different hotels in the area from Isla Mujueres to Cancun to Playa Del Carmen and points in between and beyond. Your sure to find one that fits real close to your ideal place. You did mention a good beach was important. You'll need to keep in mind that Cancun is shaped like the number 7. Hotels on the "top of the seven" catch little to no waves and have very calm, quite beaches. Hotels along the "side of the seven" catch the waves off the ocean and would be the place to stay is you want to play in the waves. And don't worry about nightlife. Even if you chose a hotel that doesn't offer much you can hop a bus on the cheap or catch a cab for a few bucks to get to the "party zone" from anywhere in Cancun. If you give more detail as to what's important to you then I'm sure you'll find some great input from the people on this forum.
Suggest you shop hotel rates and amenities on your own and then post a narrowed down "Final Four" type list. You will get pro's and con's, probably, hotel by hotel. You should think about getting away from the hotel and experiencing more variety than you would by staying at a resort all the time. If you just want to eat and drink all the time, then go All Inclusive, but you will of course be limited to a single resort, although many have more than one venue for eats and drinks. A.I. is expensive if you don't plan to drink yourself silly every day and eat way too much food. If you want a nice place, for less money, NO food and beverage service to speak of, but you can walk in 5 minutes to 50 places to eat and drink, even McDonalds and Burger King, you might want to check out www.cancun-mexico-condos.com This is a site for the Salvia Condos. Several are managed by good friends of mine. I have housed my daughter there for Spring Break, in the penthouse with 5 of her sorority sisters. Great pool, great "newly renovated" beach, pretty much next door to Carlos & Charlies, City Club, Coco Bongo, Hard Rock Cafe, Chili's and more. Across the street and maybe 50 yards from Dady O's. Across the street and 150 yards the other way from SeƱor Frogs. Party Center at your finger tips almost. Hope this helps.
Since you're just looking for an adults only hotel in Cancun there are only a few. Temptations is by far the most popular and wildest. The golden Parnassus is another one that has gotten good reviews. http://www.cancuncare.com/forum/cancun-hotels/91-golden-parnassus-adults-only-ai.html
We are looking for all inclusive, resort type for the first time we go. That way we can look around and not have to worry about drinks, food ect... We like Temtation, but is everything sex themed, or just have a good time theme?? Kinda get mixed reviews reading post on forums... Thanks for all the help this far!
If you decide that you want the condo route try other condos on VRBO as well since there are many more out there which are far superior to Salvia in many ways. They may not be as close to what Salvia is close to but the properties are nicer and rooms are better at lower prices.
it's really not overly sex themed. Some of the games around the pool are adult fun and some of the evenings are adult themed (like lingerie night) but you're not forced to participate in anything you don't want to. There's also a quiet side if the sexy pool is too much for you. I'd really suggest you try it out. My policy is "your worst day on vacation is still better than your best day at work"
At TTR you'll find some topless at the pool and beach, adult games at the sexy pool, adult theme parties half of the nights and one or two free porn channels in your hotel room. But I've never heard of anyone having their arm twisted to participate in anything they didn't want to do. For my one trip there it was really quite tame all the way around except for the two porn channels on the TV. In surfing for sports updates I couldn't get any scores but I sure kept getting an eyeful of other physical activities. But if your looking for AI and adults only then I think your choices in Cancun are limited to TTR or Golden Parnassus. (someone will correct me if I'm worng)
