I will be in Temptation in november, I would like to go to Chichen Itza and Isla Mujeres. Anybody know what's prices are in hotel, I found website offering those trip for $50-$60 dollars per person. Better book in hotel through rep or website. Is anybody recommend any tour operators in there? Thanks for help
Prices should be similar to that but if you book when you get there then you can make sure you do it when you want and not have to choose the pre-planned activity as opposed to something you discovered there after you arrived.
I thought Steve had links through this site which were highly recommended. Maybe surf some of the "sticky" posts... you might get lucky!
If you go by express boat, which takes about 20-25 minutes, it is the best and fastest way to Isla Mujeres. You can get there by walking to the port , which is around the corner where the pirate ship are . The price was low , I think it was around or under $15.00
Depending on when you arrive in November you could also sign up for Steve's Boobs Cruise! I know there's one on the 21st. Costs is $65 USD but all the details can be found in this thread
since this is a place needing help, I have some questions wondered if some of you "experienced " cancun goers could answer>>> 1) What is the departure tax I read somewhere here about???? do we have to pay to leave mexico??? 2) has anyone gone through customs in Houston??? how long does that take? we have a connecting flight but are n't sure if we have allowed enough time to make it? also is there a customs tax on anything?? do you pay in mex or states?/ 3)do we need to carry the passports when we are on excursions or leave the resort??? 4) are there other mexican tidbits that will come in handy toknow before we get there??? If youknow of anything could someone please email us?? or let us know Totally new to this traveling outside the states stuff and are quite novices here... could you tell???? any help or tips would be appreciated.
I go through houston also, it's not too bad. It's been under an hour I'd say. Alot better than trying to going through Mexico City!
definately didnt want the hassles of Mex city, ours is straight flight to and from houston to cancun. Can you help with any of the other 'newbie questions " we have? check your email, hope you dont mind all the questions, guess we just want to be prepared for anything.
Ok let's see if I can't answer some of these... 1.) Probably nothing, but you should check with your airline or whoever you arranged your trip with just in case. 2.) Not a clue but you already got that answered. I did learn that Chicago takes FOREVER! 3.) I wouldn't, if by some stroke of horrible luck you needed to present it (pulled over by a cop, some kind of emergency etc.) and you feel the need to have it with you make a photocopy to carry. Leave your passport in your room in the safe. You can always go get it if you need it and you don't have to worry if you lost it or not. I have never heard of anyone I know getting hassled for their passport in Cancun. 4.) Just be nice to people and be polite. I always pay in cash, if you use your credit card there is always a chance someone can swipe your card number. There are ATM's all over the place and as long as you let your bank know you are going down you should be able to get cash easily. Try local food, it tastes great but have antacid, pepto etc just in case your body doesn't agree with some of the local ingredients. Also don't drink from water fountains or plain tap water. It may not be bad per se but you are in a different part of the world and there may be some minor bugs that your body can't handle. Try bottled water or better yet the beer! And shopping in the market? I always use the assumption that if I bargain good enough I can get anything for 1/2 to 2/3 the price. Most of the time I am right!
