I'm interested in nearby fishing villages. I read about three of them and that is more the type of tourist thing we would prefer.
Any help would be great. Also would appreciate info on charters .
    Thanks

Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres and Puerto Juarez are places where fisherman operate from, I wouldn't really call any of them 'fishing villages' though.

If it's fishing charters you're looking for then these operate from within the Hotel Zone, there's some info on my fishing in Cancun pages:

Chiquila is a couple of hours away, it's the point where you can catch a boat over to Holbox (my happy place).

I'm guessing the original poster was looking for Puerto Morelos.

Does anyone know where to find someone that will take you snorkeling? I heard there are people you can hire that have boats and will take you out to the reef for snorkeling?? I would like to goto the Punta Nizuc reef.

    Hi Turquoise,
There are snorkeling tour providers all over the place, but in my humble opinion, the snorkeling at Punta Nizuc is disappointing. Not much to see out there anymore in terms of sea life. The snorkeling in Puerto Morelos, Isla Mujeres, Akumal and Cozumel is MUCH better, your money is better spent taking a trip out of Cancun if snorkeling is what you are looking for.

Steve (the owner of this fine forum), has a snorkel trip to Puerto Morelos available for booking online, I recommend it much more than the Nizuc trips. Just click the link below.
